    It's great to finally see the minumin wage raised, although this is long overdue.

    I think the minimum wage increase is a mistake. Mainly it is going to hurt small businesses forcing them to either fire employees or close the business down. Minimum wage was never meant to be a livable wage. I mean, if you are trying to support a wife and 3 kids on it. You have other problems than minimum wage.

    I think when it gets right down to it, I work for less ... especially some weeks. But that's hardly the issue. I have worked for minimum wage before. How is that relevant to the economic issues?

    Since no human in modern society can live on $7.25 an hour (40hr wk) this whole discussion is meaningless. The democrats have done nothing other than give teenagers working at the burger hut some extra gas/spending money. For those adults who are trying to make a living, 7.25 per hour does them little good. Sure it is better than 5.15 (or whatever it was) but it is still not a livable wage. If I owned a business I would pay all of my full-time employees more than $7.25 per hour.
