Dempsey 'disappointed' by anti-Obama campaign by ex-military members

The United States' top military official criticized a group of former military and intelligence operatives for its aggressive campaign against President Obama, telling Fox News that he is "disappointed" by such political activity, which he called "not useful."

The group of former CIA agents, Navy SEALs and other military members recently released a long-form political ad blasting Obama for security leaks on his watch, as well as suggesting he has taken too much credit for the SEALs raid in Pakistan that killed Usama bin Laden.

“If someone uses the uniform, whatever uniform, for partisan politics, I am disappointed because I think it does erode that bond of trust we have with the American people,” Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey said in an interview with Fox News while flying back from a trip to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Dempsey is the most senior military officer to publicly condemn the group, which calls itself Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund, which some opponents have compared to the "Swift Boat" group that attacked John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race.

I believe you would have to put Obama in that class since he apparently gives the OK for all drone targets! And he is well on the way to breaking the country!

Since Obama is leaking intelligence that puts the military and the CIA in danger then they are the very people to bring this up.

Ex-Navy SEAL defends group's Obama attacks, condemns Obama's bin Laden ad

OPSEC, a group of former military and intelligence operatives and creators of a long-form political ad that blames President Obama for a series of national security leaks, is firing back against criticisms from the nation's highest ranking military officer.

Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey on Tuesday told Fox News he was "disappointed" by the political use of the military uniform.
"If someone uses the uniform, whatever uniform, for partisan politics, I am disappointed because I think it does erode that bond of trust we have with the American people,” Dempsey said in an interview with Fox News while flying back from a trip to Afghanistan and Iraq.

But Scott Taylor, a former Navy SEAL and the president of OPSEC, argues that Dempsey's criticisms can be applied equally to the Obama campaign's "One Chance" ad, which features images of Black Hawk helicopters in flight and military pilots. The video, which is still available online, suggests Gov. Mitt Romney would not have made the same decision to call for the raid that killed Usama bin Laden.

“The Obama campaign continues to promote a highly partisan attack ad that used military footage and photographs from the White House Situation Room to support sharp criticism of the president’s political opponent,” Taylor said. “The use of those in uniform and the work they do for partisan political purposes is not only unhelpful, as General Dempsey said, but is dishonorable, and the campaign should immediately remove the ad for good.”

Taylor also claimed that unlike the Obama campaign's ad, all of the men featured in the OPSEC video were former military and therefore have the right to speak freely.

Emphasis is Mine!

It is just another sign that Obama has no record to run on. The issues of war and peace should be debated without dragging in the military. With unemployment above eight percent, soaring gas prices, a growing deficit, no immigration policy, out of control SS and Medicare, it is no wonder he does not want to address the issues that should be deciding this election.

This goes right along with Romney's Bain history, or how the company closing caused one wife to die of cancer. It has nothing to do with a debate about the Presidency.

In fact, things are so bad, that Obama should not even receive the nomination. I cannot figure out why he is even still in the race with a slight lead. It is probably because of a weak Republican candidate. That is why things like the Aiken story can be so damaging.

If the focus stays on the issues, Romney will win.

The Pentagon Involved in Politics

It appears that contrary to their advice the Uniformed Officers of the Pentagon are getting involved in politics. Is this a harbinger of things to come under a future military of der furher Barak?

'Swift-Boating' Obama? Pentagon denounces politics of attack ad

A group of former Special Operations Forces officers has criticized the White House for what it says were dangerous leaks of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. Now, the US military is pushing back.

The US military is pushing back against the campaign of a group of former Special Operations Forces officers who have spoken out against President Obama in what some have described as a latter-day “Swift Boat” campaign.

The group in question is the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc. (OPSEC is short for operational security). It has criticized the White House for what it says were dangerous leaks of the raid that killed terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.

“As a citizen, it is my civic duty to tell the president to stop leaking information to the enemy,” says Benjamin Smith, a Navy SEAL, in an Internet film the group has produced. “It will get Americans killed.”

Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, responded to the film, warning that using the uniform for partisan politics erodes the trust that people have in their military. “One of the things that marks us as a profession in a democracy is, it’s most important we remain apolitical,” he said Wednesday. “That’s how we maintain our trust with the American people. The American people don’t want us to become another special-interest group. In fact, I think that confuses them.”

The OPSEC organizers in turn spoke out against Dempsey’s remarks. “We respect the Chairman’s views but as we are no longer on active duty we also appreciate our right to speak freely on issues we feel passionate about, including protecting those still in uniform from intelligence leaks and being used for partisan political purposes,” said Scott Taylor, president of OPSEC, in a statement.

My emphasis!
