Denominations who have changed their name:

Conservative Baptist Association (split from the ABC in 1947)

Name change in 2021 to Venture Network - and this is the reason why
Their explanation strikes me as weak. Venture Church Network is vague and conveys nothing at all to me. Gospel Driven Church Network would be slightly less vague.

QUOTE

Venture Church Network came from the idea of advancing in the face of danger. The way we’ll continue to be gospel driven will mean taking risks. Our original name has become an obstacle as culture and language has changed since originally adopted.

“Conservative” is now associated with politics.

“Baptist” can mean a myriad of things.

Venture Church Network allows us to start the conversation, identifying us as a network of churches that’s willing to take bold and courageous steps to further the gospel of Christ, even in times that are challenging and uncertain.

The Association of Reformed Baptist Churches in America (ARBCA) so sullied their name, that now they've 'rebranded' themselves as the Confessional Baptist Association.

Of course, the Southern Baptist Convention in 2012 approved use of an 'alternate descriptor', "Great Commission Baptists", for churches wanting to avoid the connotations of "Southern Baptist".

Northern Baptist Convention (1907–1950)
American Baptist Convention (1950–1972)
American Baptist Churches, USA (1972-present)
Salty, in 2006:

"The Pacific Southwest region voted 1,125 to 209...to terminate its relationship with the ABCUSA".

It renamed itself 'Transformation Ministries' upon becoming independent of the Convention, but later took its present name, the 'Aspire Network'!

The churches in the minority were eventually organized as a new ABCUSA region named 'Abcoflash', the American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles, Southwest & Hawai.

Pentecostal Holiness - We used to scare you with that unknown tongue
Fun Loving Freedom Church - Now we will try all of that with our outrageous beards, mixed drinks, adulterous ways, and scary tattoos!

Pentecostal Holiness - Even though the houses were small... The folks would come dressed up looking and behaving like ladies and gentleman. And were very Christlike in their daily endeavors.
Fun Loving Freedom Church - Now denomination names such as Baptist or Pentecostal Holiness are erased from the shingle. In order to discover a denomination you have got to have an appointed chat with the pastor... If he is willing to talk to you!

The times and the seasons…

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. – Acts 1:6-7

There were two general time frames
1. The first world – Written about by Enoch
2. The second world – All kinds of history!

I believe the ways of the first world will return here to the second world… As spoken in the Book of Enoch…

And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones to execute judgement upon all, and to destroy all the ungodly: and to convict all flesh of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

And then Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel looked down from heaven and saw much blood being shed upon the earth, and all lawlessness being wrought upon the earth. And they said one to another: 'The earth made without inhabitant cries the voice of their cryings up to the gates of heaven.

Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spake, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, and said to him: 'Go to Noah and tell him in my name "Hide thyself!" and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it. – The Book of Enoch

In examining planet earth these days it is very apparent that the world is ending like it did in Enoch’s time… With much violence and sexual sins. I would hope that whatever the church is changing to, that it remembers...

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. - Romans 12:1

I would hope that whatever happens in a denomination that they keep a spirit of Christian decency about them. Why did God destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? Easy little answer here… This was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. – Ezekiel 16:49

1. Fulness of bread
2. Lazy
3. Not charitable

In other words… They did not have anything better to do!

The same thing is happening today. We have children being brought up in single parent homes with no management about them. There is also very little to do in an apartment type atmosphere. As a result they begin by stealing as they were never taught honesty. When they grow up they fall into the wrong crowd and end up committing violence against their fellow human beings.

And to encourage the existing denominations to.... Very importantly...

Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not. - Jeremiah 50:2
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. - Proverbs 29:18

It is a nice thing to see a published denominational standard... And a happy people abiding by it!
