And you somehow think that the above quote from the pen of John Calvin would be objectionable to Calvinists these days?

Some of them, yes.

I agree with Richard Muller, C. Hodge, Dabney, Shedd and the like that "Calvin [and his opponents] believed and taught that Christ’s work made full and perfect satisfaction for all."

Some Calvinists seem to think that if all is satisfied regarding the demands of justice that the result must be universalism, but the scholars I've noted above disagreed and addressed this very objection. I posted one such quote HERE>>>

The scriptures also say to give honor to whom honor is due. I see not inherent problem with accepting the things you have said, but then saying that a certain Christian was certainly used by God to do great things. since "greatest" was not defined... it could really mean anything...top 1,000, top 3 million.

Would it be an error for me to say at my mom's funeral, "To me, my mother was one of the greatest Christians." Sappy, yes. Unnecessary, maybe. Demonstrably false and and a sham that I would suggest such a thing...I don't think so.

Well, when the words "one of the greatest christians" are used, who would CHS be compared to? Would he be on the short list of say, top 100 christians of all time? Top 1,000? Top 100,000? You get my drift?

To state what JF states, to me equates putting him on a pedestal. You know what we put on pedestals, don't you? Idols. I am not saying JF was "idol worshiping" CHS, but to make such a brazen, he needs the "goods" to back up his claim.

I know no one who I would consider "one of the greatest christians of all time", including my precious parents, or any deceased or present day theologian.

Remember Bro. Skan, you can show their writings verbatim, and somehow, someway, they mean something entirely different.

The strongest points of one's argument are not typically reflected in the portion that his opponents address, but in the portions ignored.

Not puting him on a higher than other human stand, just stating that he was one of the greatest preacher/teachers of all time...

Do you consider folks like Calvin/Luthor/Augustine/Graham/Moody etc as being among greatest in History at what they did for God?
