Despite strong economy, many Americans struggling to get by

Very true. You could also say that "Despite Trillons of dollars in welfare spending by Federal and State governments, some people still struggle to make ends meet."

So, the answer shouldn't be more government programs and spending.
Cut to the chase...

"Despite a googoplex of gold/silver spent on war by mankind he still cannot come to gripes with peace".

“While startling data to some, it comes as no surprise to those Americans who are struggling to get by.

Debra Poppelaars of Nashville, Tennessee, underwent spinal fusion surgery last fall and was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly thereafter. Although she is insured, she owes roughly $19,000 for her portion of the medical bills.

Between disability, a job change and the mounting debt, she hasn’t been able to make ends meet and is now facing bankruptcy.”

“It’s very hard at 64 years old, I look back and think I am in this position and I should be able to retire,” she said.

Jerri Wood of Renton, Washington, says she makes choices each month to pay one bill instead of another as she struggles to pay for her health care. Wood has lived for years with a brain tumor that requires regular monitoring and was recently diagnosed with diabetes that she takes insulin to manage.”

None of the above can possibly be true because we all KNOW that Obamacare fixed all those problems.

Things have to be good under Trump or else Democrats would not be supporting open borders such as Beto in Texas who wants no borders so we can get more cheap unskilled labor and more applicants for welfare. Or is it that Democrats are addicted to cheap labor since the days when they owned all the plantations?

So why are Americians struggling to get by?

Granted, some have major hospital bills
Some have other major life changing situations, such as divorce, major company layoffs, ect.

But often people get into financial problems is because they over spend their income.

Instead of waiting until we have the cash to pay for something, We are a society that must have "wants" now -
Now, there might be times, where buying something on time - is advantageous. For example - you need a washing machine.-Lets say you average at least 5 loads of washing per week. At $2 per load -+ drying - you are spending 10-20 dollars per week. That would be over $500 per year not to mention the gas (and wear & tear on your car). In this case, it would be wise to purchase a washing machine.

Now, if you just have to have that latest HD TV and DVD - for that want, we need to hold off until you can pay it with cash.

Overall all many Americians make poor financial decisions - and thus are really responsible for their $$ problems.

One other thing - is it really necessary to spend over 40 grand to attend Harvard.

Over 40 million Americans have education debt - .......

Not everyone is getting a raise either. And I lost my tax cut when the country club Republicans decided to raise property taxes for schools. So I am slightly worse off because of inflation. Also, prescription medicines are very expensive and going up. It's cheaper to die. :Roflmao

Property tax is a local issue - maybe you should run for your County open seats!

Uh, I'm not. :)

Move to Texas. My property tax is $57 per year. I get a discount for being over 65, and another huge one for being a veteran, and I have the property homesteaded. Of course I did grumble a bit this year when my tax went up from $55 to $57. But what are you gonna do? :)

You mean Obama Care did not help her out that much?

It is with so many people lacking the skills for so many jobs in this economy.
Maybe because the Dems wanted them to just get on the ole public dough, like47 % were getting some form of Govt payment?
Hard to be motivated to get trained and go to work if mailed off a check each month!
