Did Adam abdicate his throne to Satan?

The original question:
I recently was presented this idea and wondered about its validity.
It was stated that "with the sin of Adam, he gave over the rule of the earth to Satan. I really don't know what to think about this. Any Thoughts?

2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. KJV
I can't argue with that! It doesn't matter what our personal “ beliefs “ are, if the scriptures say something then it must be the truth. So why is everyone arguing semantics when the scripture is clear that Satan doesn't “own” the world, God does, but God has given over this world to Satan, and he has rulership

I think "rulership" implies some kind of control, which would infringe on God's rulership/sovereignty.

I think that after the fall, God allowed Satan to continue to deceive. Any power or control that Satan has is because people are in rebellion against God and/or want or buy into Satan's deception. People want the deception because what Satan offers feels good and/or seems good.

In several places in the Bible, it says that "God gave people over" to their desires and corruptions. I think that is why Satan has any control or power at all -- God has allowed people who deny Him or reject Christ to fall into the deception of Satan, and being deceived, Satan has a certain power or influence over them.

In other words, the power Satan has is because of man's sin and his desire to sin.

Kenneth Copeland teaches this and he uses it as part of his argument that God could not do anything to change the situation on the earth after the fall except through a man and things of that nature.

I don't see any strong Biblical support for this idea that Adam abdicated his throne. It is conjecture, imo, and not doctrine. The Bible does say 'thou hast put all things under his feet' (referring to man, or perhaps exclusively to Christ). But it also says "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof" and God did not give that up when He created Adam or when Adam fell because it was still true when the Psalms were written.

Yes, Copeland (and Gloria too) Teaches this but so do a myrid of others.
Kenneth Haggin, Paul Crouch, Jan Crouch, Benny Hinn, John Avanzini, Morris Cerullo, Jery Savelle, Fred Price, CHarles Capps, Creflo Dollar, E.W. Kenyon, Marilyn Hickey, ect - I can still gone.

These ALL hold and adhere to the false teaching of the Word Of Faith Movement.
It is from this movement that the belief that Adam was enthroned with all power and Authority over the world and then God backed out because He could do nothing without the new rulers permission. Once Adam fell, his authority, dominion, and absolute rulership (throne) was given to Satan. The WOF movement teaches that God had to get permission from Satan to work on earth so God sent Jesus in man form to get the authority back so He could work in the world unhindered and then at Jesus resurrection give back to believers Mans right ot absolute ownership of this world and take it back piece by piece. Now it is of Note this entire belief system is centered on the basis that Man is God remade. They state we are made in the image of God, this means that we are "like" God and if we are so like God we are a God, though a little lower than God Himself.

I can show you numerous of these says by any one of them. It is a doctrine of demons strainght from the pit.

I might be off track with the thread but I saw some making reference to this movement and couldn't keep quiet. I will back out now.

This is the teaching of Word of Faith "False Preachers"-----run away---run far away----run fast, far away from this type (WOF) teaching!!!

Just because an heretical sect teaches a certain thing does not necessarily mean they INVENTED it themselves. It also does not mean that one should "run away" from such a teaching.
If one is dicerning enough, one can see the inherent false teaching which WOF has inserted into the truth that Satan is now the god of this world. This fact, in no way cripples God's ABSOLUTE power over it.

God made man to rule this earth. Man would have continued to rule this earth had he OBEYED God. Man instead OBEYED Satan. In doing this one act, man abdicated his place to the Usurper and Deceiver.

One needs to understand WHY God made man. It was to replace a Rebel. Instead, man rebelled also. This is why Christ is called the Second Adam. For it is He who will now be King.
Had man OBEYED God, we wouldn't be in this mess and we would still have rulership of this earth.
