Did Christ die for.......

my unbelief since unbelief is a sin? Did He die for my "faithlessness" since whatever is not of faith is sin? How about my unrepentant heart, since unrepentance is sin? Did He die for ALL my sin, EXCEPT unbelief, faithlessness and unrepentance? I see in the Bible that I must BELIEVE by FAITH and the result will be REPENTANCE in my life - so is that "my part" in Salvation and the the rest is "God's part"?

Just wondering, since my last thread got off into Propitiation and such...

There is not one sin that is chargeable to God's elect.

"Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies."

Unbelief is a sin. Man does not believe because he is a sinner by nature, born into that state. Man is given a new nature by the grace of God when He opens the heart and poors in His Spirit; and from that heart flows faith and repentance.

The only viable conclusion is that Christ died for ALL the sins, including unbelief, of ALL the elect, since the sin of unbelief is not chargeable to the elect.

I', suprised you ahven't received the wrath of some readers with THAT comment because the Bible no where states that Christ died for ONLY the elect. I am NOT an Arminian nor am I a Calvinist, I am a Sovereign Compatiblist.

O.K., here we go. The elect live in a state of unbelief for some time before the new birth brings faith. Having been in a state of unbelief, they would need atonement for it in order to be saved. This atonement was accomplished for them by the blood of Christ.

After you explained yourself better, I agree. The way you stated it before sounded like the "elect" could die in unbelief, and still be in Heaven.
