Did Jesus ever.....

Brother, I do believe what Peter says about Jesus being the Lamb, without blemish or spot.

But don't you think Jesus' spotlessness was talking about His perfection in His character and nature and not His physicality?

No.

I have always contended that He was spotless within and without just as the lambs of the old testament were to be presented to God having no spot of blemish - including intestinal.

Isaiah states,
Who has believed our message?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot,
And like a root out of parched ground;
He has no stately form or majesty
That we should look upon Him,
Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.

3 He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
And like one from whom men hide their face
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.

"7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He did not open His mouth;
Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,
And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,
So He did not open His mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away;
And as for His generation, who considered
That He was cut off out of the land of the living
For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?
9 His grave was assigned with wicked men,
Yet He was with a rich man in His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.

10 But the Lord was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief;
If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.
11 As a result of the anguish of His soul,
He will see it and be satisfied;
By His knowledge the Righteous One,
My Servant, will justify the many,
As He will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
And He will divide the booty with the strong;
Because He poured out Himself to death,
And was numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,
And interceded for the transgressors."

See, Isaiah was particularly careful to show that all marring was done purposely at the cross for us. Although Christ (as you pointed out) is not the doe - eyed pretty boy, for certainly there was "no beauty that we should desire him," He is never indicated as marred before the time of the crucifixion and related events.

The Scriptures do not indicate that Christ did not come to the cross as completely pure, inside and out.

Actually, Jesus could not have been the "pure lamb" if his innards were not pure, if he had blisters and sores that were scar baring. He was more pure than the "pure lambs" of the OT sacrifice who were set aside for days and repeatedly inspected for purity.

Jesus wouldn't have had an acne problem, had cavities and certainly didn't wear contacts. :)

Nor hunger pains...no bleeding nor dying.... oh wait.... :)

Jesus was perfect spiritually.

Jesus was perfect spiritually.

If you assume that hunger pains scares the inner or outer person, then no, Jesus did not experience such. HOWEVER, because hunger and thirst are not physically scaring, then such can and did occur as part of The Lord's earthly time.

Jesus was perfect in every way. He died not just spiritually, but physically, too.

This is simply wrong. It is wrong and close to a heresy from the early church period.

So an imperfect Jesus became the perfect sacrifice for sin?

Show me by Scripture even one verse that clearly states that the word of God is not perfect.

Is God perfect?

How about the Holy Spirit; is the Holy Spirit perfect?

Either Jesus was the perfect sacrifice by which He had to be perfect in EVERY aspect both spiritually and physically, or the sacrifice was of no effect.

God did not Father an imperfection and then state that He was "Well pleased."

Heresy????

Not even close.

preachinjesus may speak for himself, but I'm guessing he's raising an objection to the statement that Jesus died spiritually.

At first glance, I question that, too. The way I see it, when He finally died, Jesus went straight to Paradise. Maybe some clarification is in order, Brother Agedman.

I am firm in the view that Christ (because he truly became sin for us) was cast into hell. There reside only the spiritually dead.

Because Christ (being the very Word of God) could not be contained in Hell, He literally took the "keys of death and hell" and now is in total control of both. (Rev 1:18)

Before the cross, according to the encounter of Satan and God as recorded in Job, God had to instruct Satan NOT to take Job's life. Satan has no power over death nor hell anymore (remember the contention over Moses).

There is no doubt that Jesus passed through paradise (according to the encounter with the thief while on the cross).

If Jesus had not been condemned to hell, then the sacrifice would have been incomplete, for only those not condemned are/were in paradise and He was condemned for us according to the Scriptures. (Isaiah 53:6)

This is a short and choppy post in an attempt to give a very broad overview of my own thinking, and is not meant to hijack the thread.

Just curious where it said he got sick??

This is from the examiner.com, a short piece.

2.If so, why isn't it included in the Bible?
Let's discuss the first question: "Did Jesus ever get sick?"

Jesus was fully human. Therefore, He had the following human attributes:

•Jesus got hungry.
•Jesus got thirsty.
•Jesus got tired and needed rest.
•Jesus got sleepy.
•Jesus wept.
•Jesus sweated.
•Jesus got angry.
•Jesus suffered.
•Jesus bled.
•Jesus died.
But did Jesus ever have a cold, a runny nose, or a headache? Did Jesus ever get blisters on his feet from walking throughout Galilee? Did Jesus ever hit his finger as a carpenter?

The Bible is completely silent about the above questions.

One can be sick and be sinless at the same time.

Here is the problem of considering Christ as ever being sick.

A sickness (cold, measles, chickenpox,...) indicates that something has gone awry. A internal battle that includes the destruction of white blood cells, fever, and other indicators presenting the body as unwell.

Christ was fully man, but also fully God. One did not supersede the other and were in full unity and agreement. Therefore, Christ could NOT have been sick.

Remember, Christ "gave Himself a ransom..." This verse as well as others that indicate that man did not take life from Christ, indicate that in every area concerning His body, Christ was in full control.

Jesus could have been sick. His entire physical body died, which is being sick at the extreme. Jesus was perfect spiritually. He had a sinless human body. He got hungry and tired. his physical body bled. He has wounds from his death on the cross.

Your description of Jesus physical body never being sick is no where to be found in the Bible.

Do not compare the days of the crucifixion and the suffering of Christ and attempt to apply that to all his earthly days.

I contend that Scriptures in no place indicate even in the slightest that Jesus could be sick before the crucifixion.

A lamb selected from the flock for sacrifice had to be perfect - could not nor ever have been sick nor bear any scares before being sacrificed.

Jesus being the Lamb of God, was no less perfect in every aspect. Any imperfection would have disqualified him from being the perfect sacrifice.

That is Biblical.

I don't know what some would call Jesus could have been sick and marred before the cross. Perhaps un-biblical? It certainly isn't found in the Scriptures.

No one knows if Jesus was ever sick scripture does not speak to that. Any speculation or argument is just childish.
