Alcohol is alcohol, it makes you drunk. When I came home drunk my wife didn't ask if I had drank wine or whiskey. Wine is about 22% alcohol, whiskey is about 80%. So we sin 22% or 80%. at least we have a "choice".

I am ashamed of some of my past life but at least it gave me experience that I can teach to others, not because I heard it, read it but because I experienced it.

You obviously are missing my point. of course we are to eat but we are not to OVEREAT. no where does it say to drink wine is a sin, it says to be drunk with wine or strong drink is a sin. sex isn't wrong sex outside of marriage is

Let's break that down...

Since the Hebrew word for 'look' is ra'ah, we will use it's meaning...

Do not experience or approve of wine....

When? when it is fermented. For only when it is fermented does it sparkle and bubble in the cup.

looks pretty plain to me. We are commanded to abstain from even drinking in moderation.

In Proverbs 23:31, the word "look" is in the imperfect. "Stare upon" would be a good way to think of the word. Don't dwell on it; don't be obsessed. This verse, like every other passage in the Bible says not to overindulge.

Are you a vegetarian? By your argument, you should be, because Paul (in Rom. 14:21) gives eating meat exactly the same moral standing as drinking wine.

according to Romans we are free to drink a little wine if we want as long as we are not a stumbling block to anyone (which would be the case if one got drunk) the bible says Jesus turned water into wine and even better than the wine before and most likely better than the RED WINE in proverbs.

Jesus drank wine as shown in several verses.

the NT never condemned drinking wine only the excess of it to get drunk. to ignore Romans 14 is to be a LEGALIST!

what you see here is a good example of poor hermenutics by these gentlemen. like i said before is exactly what happens if you lean one way or the other on scripture not taking a balanced approach, rightly dividing God's the truth
