Different Take on John 3:8

John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

I reread John 3:8 with no preconceived notions. No Calvinist interpretation that it was about the Holy Spirit picking believers by some mysterious way and not the Arminian view that the Holy Spirit will cause a sudden change in person once they believe, a change that the person didn't see coming.

I wondered--Is it about how the Holy Spirit sends and causes born again believers to go and do wherever/whatever He wants? The phrase "so is everyone that is born of the Spirit" is the key phrase.

It seems to be saying that everyone that is born of the Spirit, (i.e. believers) will be blown about by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit goes where it is needed and so do believers under the Spirit's guidance. Unbelievers will not understand why believers do some of the things they do nor will they know where they are going next or what they will do next.

Feedback is appreciated.

Could apply to us after being saved, but primary focus seems to be jesus telling Nick that those born from above are done by the power of the Spirit himself, and not thru act of human will exclusively!

You did not have any say in your natural birth... And you do not have any say in your spiritual birth either... The only will involved in either, is the WILL OF GOD!... You did not birth yourself in either!... Brother Glen

What Jesus was telling Nicodemus was that his spiritual birth was not found in being a child of Abraham.

I edited my previous post but to my understanding of scripture natural and spiritual birth we have no say in either. Yet you say not thru act of human will exclusively!... So is their an act we must preform before this happens?... Seem to me a contradiction in scripture... Explain?... Brother Glen

From the interlinear Greek to English:
The Spirit the where it is willing is blowing and the sound of it you are hearing but not you have perceived which place it is coming and where it is under leading thus is every the one having been generated out of the Spirit.

Here is what I see from t his,
The spirit goes to the willing and the sound of it we hear but we don't percieve where it is coming nor where it leads the one who is saved.

The Spirit goes to those willing to receive Christ and then leads them where He wants them to go.

You are reading that wrong, monsieur. The Spirit moves where He is willing, not moving towards those who are willing. By Him moving upon us, it caused us to move towards Him. Man, in his fallen state, has zero desire to move from 'sinful avenue.' He makes us willing just like Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning’s womb.[Psa. 110:3]

God moves upon us and then we move towards Him. You are close to Peligianism here, monsieur.
