Discerning the difference between the inanimate and the actual animate vessels.

Romans 9:18-22, ". . . Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: . . ."

Persons are animate beings, actual pottery are inanimate. God has patience with persons.
I think you have completely missed the meaning of the passage. It’s an analogy.

Paul is using the analogy of a potter specifically making some vessels for honorable use and some for “common” use. This is most likely a reference to a chamber pot.

The same potter that makes vessels to drink out of, also makes vessels to relieve yourself in.

The point is that God creates people for specific purposes. Some were were created to demonstrate His mercy. Some were created to demonstrated Hid wrath. He demonstrates great patience with all, and all will, in time, fulfill that purpose for which God created them.

Hope that helps

peace to you

The analogy does not change the distinction between the animate an inanimate. Jeremiah 18:6 uses the analogy also.
