Brother Ed, this was a great poll. And it has exposed how little the typical Internet "anti-dispy" type knows about real dispensationalism.

You've done a good job of explaining things, but IMO you are swimming up a stream called "ignorance!" :D

Your poll is faulty. It asks, "Do you believe THIS dispensational teaching," and "Did you hear of THIS dispensational teaching," etc. Since the one you posted in your OP is not a correct evaluation of dispensationalism, I would have to answer NO to the first three questions in the poll (YES to the 4th, and SBC to the 5th), although I am a classic dispensationalist. Maybe do it again, but leave out the word THIS, which points toward what you copied (horrible grammar included).
I agree completely. What was posted was such a horrible misrepresentation of what Dispensationalism teaches that there is no way anyone could ever be a Dispensationalist. If the non-dispensational holders could have a clear understanding of what dispensationalism truly is, then maybe a real conversation could be held. From what I have seen and read there seems to be no desire to understand what dispensationalism really teaches.

#5 is a check just to make sure the poll
isn't skewed; it checks out about like most
polls on BB of 'type of Baptist'.

#3 is apparently a repeat of #1; if it
is Biblical that is what Baptists believe.

Ed is correct in the basic thrust of what he's saying. Dispensationalism, if defined by sheer numbers of trained pastors, do not believe what is in the OP. I had a thread about a month ago where I documented the *salvation* quotes from the primary disp. systematic theology. The critics were rather silent.

Most of what is called dispensationalism is a straw man, created by people who haven't done their homework.

To Calvibaptist and all others: I highly encourage anyone interested in this to get a copy of Vol. 4 of Geisler's Systematic Theology. He goes over all this, compares all the views, and explains what is believed and what is not believed by whom. I've just gotten it, and haven't digested all of it, but so far it is an OUTSTANDING work. It answers all these questions.

Yes, that is basicly what
I was trying to show.

Since I started this topic, however, I'm developing
a theory:

Everybody is a Dispensatinalist - some are
just zero dispensationalists and some
are NEGATIVE dispensationalists (AKA:
anti-dispensatinalsists).
