The Baptist Press wants everyone to know that they can virtue signal as well as Mika Brzezinski (Trump is a sodomite) or CNN.
What?

Baptist Press is an organ of the Executive Committee of the SBC! Which the Conservative Resurgence took control of decades ago and has maintained power since!

sbc.net/media/pdf/BaptistPressGuidelines.pdf

Flashback to what was trumpeted abou the committee that drafted the precious 'Baptist Faith & Message 2000':

Revised Baptist Faith and Message

"The committee was racially, professionally and ecclesiastically diverse, as it consisted of an African, an Asian and a Hispanic, as well as pastors and professors and laypeople of both genders."

They're virtue signaling. Plain and simple.

This is a total non-issue.

Someone please tell me the harm this is doing to the Christmas story?

Harm? Who said anything about harm? Was charity harmed as the publicans sounded the trumpet when giving alms? Was Jesus worried about harm when He said not to do as they do?

The issue was their co option of piety for self-aggrandizement.

And that's the issue here.

Are you saying that you don't like the 2000 BF&M?

You did not get that from the article, but made it up out of whole cloth. The article clearly articulated the intent of the made up scene for the parade float.

They intentionally, though unnecessarily, made it all about "politically correct" "racial diversity." They wanted everyone to notice (parade float). We did.

And reacted as predicted.

The races of the actors is not worthy of notice or comment.

Thank you! This was the mistake that the Baptist Press made. It is fine to run the pictures and so forth but they do not have to virtue-signal in the print. Of course, it seems as if the entire story was just a virtue-signal of big I and little you. :Unsure:Unsure:Unsure

It looks as if Canada's United Church in Calgary has one upped the SBC with a "de-colonializing" nativity display to "reflect the original event."

Harm? Who said anything about harm?

Why, you did, of course. You said,

"...it was about politics and not the fact that Jesus came to "all people."

That's the very definitely of, as I posted, 'harm to the Christmas story.'

I'm still not seeing the harm being done.

LOL. Talk about reading into things. It's an unhallowed use of the symbol. They have their reward. Now be quiet and let mommy and daddy talk.

This is what I would term a misaligned focus because it attempts to build a message upon the traditional foundation of the story of nativity where the focus should be on the birth of Christ. I treasure that story and that is my focus and therefore what would come out of my mouth. To me it seems that treasuring political posturing was/is more their focus if they bring such matters into it…

Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

There is a time and place for things and the choice of placing a political message on the nativity story speaks to what they hold most dear in their heart – seems kind of “evil” (probably too strong a word, but…) to neglect or misplace the priority of the story of the birth of Christ and turn the focus toward political propaganda messages that really aren’t even built on much truth of necessity but rather a supposed purposeful political statement meant to support mostly empty accusations of the left.

I guess you can't own up to the fact you contradicted yourself so you turn to insults.

That's because he has PC backward. It isn't fueled by necessity by those opposed, but rather by those who need to silence debate, because their position isn't supportable by rational argument.

What.

Why is a mixed raced Mary and Joseph a political issue? What political party is for or against this? I’m afraid I don’t even want to know what some of you are going to say. I’m noticing a dangerous trend of the political party that gets bent out of shape with this kind of stuff.

Do you like the one from Calagary? Did you hear the Pope's comment? The SBC may have a virtue signaling gap.

No response to this. Shocker. Just throw the term PC out there with no idea what you are even saying or implying. Classic Baptist Board.
