Divorce - Re-marriage and families

I am watching Dr Phil at the moment. The discussion is about a son who shows much dis-respect to his step-mom.

When a parent wants to re-marry - should the approval of the children be taken in consideration? If so at what age?
Should it be any different for a divorce parent than a widow?
What other considerations should be considered?

Granted - in a perfect world - we would want to save every marriage - but that is not always the case. So lets keep the discussion on the OP.

Maturity level of step-child must be understood. Some struggle with "replacement" for a parent no longer in the home and it is hard.

For a teen or older? If THEY show disrespect or create trouble, it shows they were not raised properly and need firm control. THEY do not get a vote in a parent's remarriage but should have been taught how to respond in a godly way to this change.

And for us old time grown/gone children whose widowed mom marries in old age? Bite your lip and grow up. If there are serious issues, deal BEFORE the late-life marriage of a parent. Mom is 70. Old enough to make her own mistakes.
