Yes sir.....careless of me not to bring that out, thanks for setting the record straight.
I am going down south to visit family and will be going to their church on Sunday- Oneness Apostolic........Lord help me!

They hold that one must speak in tongues and be water baptized in just the need of jesus alone,in order to be saved, and are a cult!
They came out of the AOG in 1917, as a pastor had the "revelation"" that those were the right doctrines for salvation. The AOG see them as teaching heresy, as should we!

You say baptize and they say water- you say water and they say baptize.
They assume bc I am a disabled vet in a wheelchair that I do not have enough faith to get healed, yet Paul have a physician accompany him wherever he went.
Signs and miracles are long past and will not show back up until the trib,

Some folks get sick, disabled, etc.- but Charismatics don't get it.........
John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

I am just wondering when that thief on the cross had time to be belivers baptized!
James 5:14 directs Christians to anoint the sick with oil ("Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;"). What do you believe the appropriate practice to be?

Phillip preached Jesus in Isa. 53 to the Ethiopian Eunuch where he got washed in the blood, born again and I don’t recall any water buptism there either?
I reckon those folks, veterans, etc. who accepted the gospel on my watch and cannot walk or make it to the baptismal pool coming up out of the water speaking some gibberish were short on making it to glory bc they did not have evidence of the Holy Ghost?
Yet we find today that is the religion (not Christianity) where the world is turning.

Marty......I just carry a small bottle of olive oil and just apply to the persons forehead and we pray over him laying hands- nothing charismatic.
My observation from other pastors, elders, etc. was the way I was taught. I am sure others will agree or disagree.
Does that help or maybe someone else can comment on their application of oil IAW with the scripture.
Like I said the majority of Baptists somewhat shy away from it and just pray over the person?

When I visit someone say their in hospice and doped up getting ready to check out I just pray over or with them.
Many times it is the family making the request where the person is on the sauce, nurse, family is there......where many times the Pope slides in trying to usurp his presence over the room and give last rights.
It gets crazy sometimes.....

I don't believe anointing is either required nor wrong. It's a matter of individual conscience, as was eating meat that'd been offered to idols back in Paul's day.
Anointing is an ancient practice that existed before worship of God had become widespread.
if i came upon a Christian who wished to be anointed, I'd hafta find someone else to do it, as I'm not prepared to do it & don't believe I have any authority do do it.

That is the biblical one. My concern was with how certain Charasmatics define what the annoiting really is from God!

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Thanks for the reply. There are a few things in Scripture that seem to be less popular, and to be honest they are things that my own church does not observe faithfully or with the emphasis they would give other doctrines. Fasting is one, and anointing with oil is another.
What is the purpose of anointing the sick (what does it do or symbolize)? Does your church call for elders and anoint the sick with oil?
The person has to request it first, and usually what happens is the Pastor and Elders gather arounf them, annoit in oil, and pray over them for healing. Also happens in hospital .
