As a lover of the Bible, we might want to look at some history.

One thing to note that is up until the middle 1800s, illiteracy was at about 98%, so Catholics and Protestants alike were not really able to read the bible if they had gotten one.


Also, the cost of Bibles would be the equivlent of 10,000 to 30,000 in the early stages of the printing press.

But Protestants certainly did....where are all the beautiful hand copied Bibles with jewelled and lovingly decorated covers and pages......ripped apart for those jewels etc by rapacious greedy people in the name of anti Catholicism

You state this without documentation. Protestantism as a whole have not been involved in the burning of Bibles. They have left that to Catholicism. If you can't document what you say, leave it unsaid.

I go back to William Tyndale's translation of the Bible. The RCC bought and burned as many copies of them as they could--hundreds if not thousands of them. They did so because they did not want to see the Bible in the hands of the common person. Tyndale's Bible was a very accurate translation. The KJV would not be here as it is today were it not for Tyndale. Over 80% of the KJV is based on Tyndale's work. It was one of the best translations. But the RCC burned the Bibles, then they burned the person--as a heretic for making the translation.
