One of His Sheep, I reported your post for being an unprovoked personal attack. I'll go on the record as saying it was inaccurate too.

And the devil is always working behind the scenes, whispering in our ear, telling half truths and lies, trying to get us all worked up over non-sense. Let's try not to listen. [IMG] [IMG]

I don't see how this post/thread really helps matters. It just makes alot of hard feelings for everyone.

That doesn't appear to explain me [IMG]
I think it's important to allow the concerns, as well as the triumphs, of this board to be aired and discussed. Christian fellowship does not grow when the opportunity to address concerns is not met, son't you think?? I certainly don't see anything in the OP that's inflammatory, belittling of other posters, or violating the bb rules, do you?

Debate forums are not here to make people feel good. I think if people don't take things personally, and there are no personal attacks, things are fine.

People can always choose the fellowship forums on the BB which are friendlier, if that is what they want.

I like the debate forums because I've learned a lot here. I've learned to clarify my ideas, to defend things, to be open to ideas I might be wrong on, and to not take things personally.

If there is a personal attack, then report it to the moderators.

Lately, it seems as though more people are complaining about the BB than ever before. I think the moderators are pretty generous in what they allow.

    Johnv,

actually I agree with you. I didn't think there was really all that much inflammatory in the OP. Thats why I responded to it in the first place. If someones honestly seeking an answer than I think it has a useful purpose to discuss it, to a point.

But then it can easily turn into whining, or at least open itself up to others who just want to accuse.

Why was all of this thread edited by Frogman? I know it is just a suggestion, but is there a way we could know why it was edited (especially if it is a frequent thing)? I want to respond to some things, but I do not want to say anything if a person's words are not what they actually said.

So, I guess I will leave it at this- the board here is like any other on the internet. There is good and there is bad. You freely participate and you can freely leave if you decide you do not wish to participate any longer. As the line from the musical Oklahoma! goes, "Take me as I am or leave me be."

    Fundamental,

I saw one of mine edited, too, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was that had been written there originally. It doesn't look different to me actually, so maybe it would be nice to know what I did wrong. [IMG]

To the others, I really can't speak.....

Maybe when a person's message is edited, the person doing the editing should PM to let them know why the edit. I have had some of mine edited in the past, but never knew why or that it had happened until I went back to the topic. Seems like simple courtsy to me.

    IMHO

    Most posts are edited when:
    Offensive language is used,
Personal attacks (against anyone are used)
    Attacking the moderators or administration
Such things as slander, false accusatioons, etc. 'could' be edited.

Those are the major reasons why posts are edited.
Read the rules over again if you have any further questions. Post with Christian grace and love.

To sum it up it is really quite simple:
Behave yourselves and there will be no trouble for anyone. [IMG]

donnA - astute observation. When I cut a post for some very wrong content, I always add a note as to WHY it was "snipped".

    But . .

I see that the offending remark might me quoted in another post down the line and I will also snip it there . . and often NOT tell WHY that innocent post was "snipped".

Good reminder for Moderators to be careful and take an extra minute to explain OR people will thing we actually ARE jackbooted thugs . .

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I wish to apologize for my actions of editing the posts in question without explanation.

When I did this I was on my way to the hospital to visit a church member. I should have never involved myself as I didn't have the time to properly notify the posters and explain briefly why I acted as I did.

I am apologizing publicly because my actions were public.

I saw in my email several mod. alerts referencing this thread and thought I would be helpful. I was not and I should have left the work to a fellow moderator who had the necessary time to properly edit and notify of the reasons justifying the edit(s).

I did not change any post that I edited. I only deleted a couple of posts that I regarded as personal attacks and then I edited references from other posts to those deleted.

Again, I am sorry for my improper actions.

Thanks for letting us know Bro. Frogman. I later figured thats what may have happened but I neglected to mention that possibility in the forum.
    I had no hard feelings.

If not too bold, is your church member ok? I hope all was well.

That "jackbooted thugs" thing....thats funny....
