Given that "Allah" is just the Arabic word for God, is it fair to say that Muslims also worship God, just in the wrong way. I am not endorsing Islam, of course Islam is a false religion that leads to Hell, but should we view Islam as a heresy, which worships God in a wrong way?

As Creator God, he is the same; however, he is misrepresented in the Quran. Islam is not a standalone religion but a Christian heresy based on the Bible, that is, on both the OT and NT having significant errors. Without Christianity, without the Bible, there could be no Islam.

In contrast, Christianity is the continuance, the fulfillment of what was entrusted to the Hebrews. As such, Christianity is dependent on the OT being the inspired word of God. Without it, there is no Christianity.

But no their God is fundamentally different. Muslims are similar to us in a sense. Mohammed stole alot from the Christians and Jews. But it's not the same God as they don't see three persons. They don't believe in the Trinity. (Part of this reason is that Mohammed thought the Trinity was the Father, Mary and the son). We can't worship the same God, because we worship Christ who is God and they don't. To worship the same God as they do we would have to restrict our worship, which is something we can't do. Well, it is a sticky wicket. I had a much longer response, but the bottom line is that Allah is the Arab word for God, and Arab Christians worship Allah, though their minds have been (and are being) transformed to understand who God really is, just like with Saul/Paul, and with us all.

Part of my original point was that understanding God as Creator God is correct, but he is much more than that, and also not a lot of things some say about him, including Islam.

Also, for example, it was the Hebrews, not the Arabs, that preserved the historical origins of both peoples in their writings. Without that, there would be no claim of Ishmael as the true son of Abraham, the one preserved from sacrifice, etc.

Heresy implies that they are Christians with a different opinion than others. This is not true.

There is only one verse which Mohammed quotes from the Bible - an eye for an eye. He takes some of the names from the Bible but even those he gets wrong. Otherwise there are no similarities between Islam’s Allah and the Bible’s “Allah”.

Islam could easily exist without the Bible which, in fact, it does. All of Islam’s beliefs come from a need to satisfy Mohammed’s needs - not from any other religious background.

Christianity is a "the only way" belief. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Now there are professing Christians who believe in compulsion, just like some did in the Dark Ages. Islam has been spread by the sword, either profess Allah or die. Some believe it is OK to kill the infidels. We can find a similar, but of course watered down, view within the body of professing Christians. I would not call God "Allah" when speaking in English just as I would not call Him "Theos," nor would I expect those speaking Arabic or Greek to call Him "God."

Also, I would not stop calling God "God," just because some cult started completely misrepresenting him but kept using the term "God."

Similarly, Arab Christians were calling God "Allah" in Arabic several centuries before Muhammad was born. For Arab worshipers, "Allah" is the correct term for God.
