Had a most delightful study in Acts 16-17 yesterday, and it made me think of this thread. Paul, there on Mars Hill, desribes how folks know of God even when they do not know it's Him. And using this internal knowledge, what a joy to link that limited understanding to the perfection of Christ Jesus.
To me, the very name of Jesus, must be like cool water to the parched soul that has yearned for Him, like living bread to the famished spirit that searches and seeks. It is an honour to carry that name to them, not merely a command, not an obligation we perform from a sake of fear for others. It is a means of meeting the deepest needs of one formed in His image, a realization that He is what we've felt and known all along. We feed others by His name.
The consequence for hearing is just as important and motivating, then, as NEVER hearing, no?
