The GOP needs to adopt the Tea Party economic agenda. As for going high tech, as money allows. Should we abandon social values? No, we have always advocated social values; it's the Democrats who advocate anything goes. The GOP is controlled by the wealthy country club and Wall Street people who pay the bills for the party.

Part of the disaster of the last campaign was the nomination of a Mormon cultist. What we need now is to work to re-elect the US House members and take back the US Senate in 2014. Everything is going to be okay--you'll see.

IMO, Republicans need to get rid of the neos and establishment crowd like the Bushes and Romney types, in other words, the RINOs. The worst example is Mitch McConnell, Senate minority leader. The difference is best illustrated by the fact Mitch McConnell threw his support behind Rand Paul's opponent in the primary, and basically stayed quiet during the general election. Mitch has an uphill fight to retain his seat in 2014, both in the primary and general election.

The Republicans need a national leader, sort of like Reagan. There is no central figure in the party now. It seems in disarray, as Obama has been running circles around them since the election every time they try to correct Obama's horrible economic policies.

prayer return to the public square?
abortionists become criminals in the eyes of the law?
the US pay its debts?
Congress declare the union of a man and woman is the only "legal" marriage?
society turn away from worship of Hollywood/Sports/Stuff idols?

I agree with that. Anyone who could say what Bush said, that he was abandoning the free market to save the free market, is not a conservative or even very bright.

Salty, thanks for the link to an excellent article. It states the problem the GOP has very well. From the posts that followed your OP it is pretty obvious that, if this is the response of the GOP leadership, then the GOP is doomed.

At I have said a number of times before, the demise of the GOP would be tragic for our country. We need two good, viable political parties.

Well, we got rid of Lugar up here, as you Know, Saturn, and our State Treasurer Murdock liked to pop off and gave the election away. Romney's problem was his membership in a cult. People like Ed Decker of Saints Alive said that he himself just could vote for a cultist for President.

Bush has been gone 4 years. He has stayed quiet and was not invited to the convention so I think that he is in limbo for the rest of his life. As for what is going on in Kentucky, we don't get much news about Kentucky in the middle of Indiana, but I like McConnell.

As for a single GOP leader, we just don't have one. I don't see much happening this year. I don't think we have any elections this year here. I still like Texas Gov. Perry but I guess Bush doesn't like him. I think that Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels could not give an answer to our national economic problems and he retreated to being President of Purdue University. Now we have Gov. Mike Pence, who left the Congressional House leadership to run Indiana but I don't see his moving to cut Indiana taxes and state government. I don't know why Dan Coats wanted to return to the US Senate when Evan Bayh quit. So I don't see much national leadership coming from Indiana.

What do you think of Ohio Gov. John Kasich?
