Do they consider it "Tough Love"

I skimmed the liked article and did not see anything to indicate a change in beliefs, but perhaps a change in ministry.

I expect they believe scripture teaches homosexual activity is sinful inappropriate behavior.

And they still believe Christ came into the world of fallen humanity to save sinners.

How about this statement -
they are doing the right thing the wrong way?

My main complaint with them has always been that they're pointing out the sin correctly, but they're not telling anyone what to do about it. You can't just say, and I quote from the first paragraph in the article, "God hates fags" and then not tell sinners what to do about it.

The Gospel says God does hate evil. Everyone is evil. Jesus died so all of us repentant evil doers can be made righteous before God and that goes for homos, pedos, murderers, thieves, genocidal folk, liars, wife beaters, and, the worst of the worst, people who listen to any music other than Bluegrass.;)

If they want to do it Biblically it needs to be "God hates fags, but loves and forgives those that repent".

They need to also make it clear about other issues our culture has entirely embraced:
God hates adulterers, but loves and forgives them.
God hates liars, but loves and forgives them.
God hates people who don't keep their word, but loves and forgives them.
God hates divorce, revealing clothing, children that talk back to parents, men who lust, men who don't lead their families, wives that don't submit, etc, etc.

It does no good to tell someone that they're going to drown at the bottom of the ocean without offering them a way to the surface.

Jesus uses broken reeds, i.e. people whose ministry may be flawed, but still can be catalysts for Christ.

I met a country music singer who had just recently trusted in Christ. His language was... well not ready for the pulpit... but his heart was.
