Do We Need to read John Calvin Before We can Critcise him?

Of course not. Calvinism shares with John Calvin its name and some of its doctrines. But other doctrines of Calvinism differ, at least in the opinion of some Calvinists, such as Limited Atonement.
The idea that to say Calvinism is false doctrine is to attack the man is just another fiction of Calvinism designed to mis-direct discussion into the behavior of those who differ from Calvinism.
Now before a person bashes the TULIP, or any of its five points, a person should study not only what those opposed to the doctrine say, but also several of the proponents, because they do vary. However, after only a few hours of study, a person can have a very good understanding of the doctrines of grace.
The fiction that those who oppose Calvinism are unqualified and do not understand it is also simply a logical fallacy, attacking the opponent rather than the view, used by Calvinists.
Total Spiritual Inability of all men at all times is unbiblical as demonstrated by Romans chapter 7. A person can be a fallen unregenerate sinner, yet in the "inner man" seek God. Three of the four soils of Matthew 13 had some spiritual ability. Romans chapter 1 teaches that men can discern the attributes of God through what He has made, yet again teaching some spiritual ability. 1 Corithians 2:14 to 3:3 teaches men of flesh have limited spiritual ability, being able to understand milk, but not solid food spiritual things.
Unconditional Election for salvation of individuals before creation is unbiblical as shown by James 2:5 where God chooses those who are (1) poor in the eyes of the world, (2) rich in faith, and (3) heirs of the promise to those who love God. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 says God chose for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit - God sets us apart in Christ - and through faith in the truth - God credits our faith as righteousness. In order for us to have faith in the truth, we must be alive, putting individual election during our lifetime.
Limited atonement, as defined by Calvinism, is shown to be unbiblical by 1 John 2:2 where Jesus became the propitiation for the whole world, not just some of the Jews and Gentiles.
Irresistible grace is shown to be unbiblical by Matthew 23:13 where men are (1) entering heaven, and therefore have been "quickened" according to Calvinism, yet are turned aside by false teaching, demonstrating the grace is not irresistible.

Well duh, how do you know what you hear about Calvin is what Calvin actually said? The only way you can know for sure is to read what he said and compare to scripture for yourself.
