    Jim,
I like your explanation and I agree with it.

All my socks were white until I got married in the summer of '05. Now I have the colors of the rainbow!

That is backwards. The Calvinist would let him go for it was predestinated.
The Free-Will would of grabbed him because he made a bad choice. We are the ones with the "choice" remember? That is why we preach "repentance to the world" for we believe they have a choice to walk after the flesh and die or walk after the Spirit and live, according to Scripture.

A good Scenario, but just backwards.

Actually, the Calvinist acknowledges that this is his child who is favored above all others and would violate the free will of the errant child. The Arminian will not violate the free will of the errant child.

You are so right. Perfect vs permissive will of God. (Edited to say, I should have read the other pages of this thread before adding my 2 cents.....) :)

Joseph, you have said all along that he had no "free will".

We spend our lives violating the free will of sinners trying to get them to believe in Jesus Christ by preaching to them to believe. Calvinist have no reason whatsoever to do that. I really can't understand a Calvinist preaching to a lost and dying world.

How is that J. D., Are you and Joseph trying to be free willers now, or is God a Calvinist?

Well how about you Lady Eagle? I understand the concept of "permissive will"... but where did the reformed come up with that? Is it to appologize for 2 Peter 3:9 or 1 Tim. 2:4? I have answers for those verses of scripture in context without having to use the "permissive will" defense for God. I would truly like to know.

Jim, can you expand on that? The A/P teaching on "permissive will" is one of the main things that drove me toward Calvinism. What is your take on permissive will?

That is because you [do not accept the answer that has been given.] It has been explained to you many times, but you [just stick your head in the sand.] as a Calvinist, I only need one reason to witness to the lost world....obedience to God.

Yea, but wouldn't it be nice if you could believe you were accomplishing something except vanity.

I am accomplishing something really great. I am being obedient to God and that is never in vain. It is God who saves, not me.

That is about as bizarre a bit of logic I have ever heard. It does not merit a response.

And yet, you responded with a mindless insult. What's the matter? Couldn't help yourself?

Don't worry, Helen. I haven't really come to expect more than what you usually offer when challenged on your false theology.
