I grew up in large metro inner city post war. Always found it odd that God would lead me to minister in my first two churches (7 years each) in small, rural dairy farm areas. I knew little about such life/mindset. but so blessed by the people and challenged to learn.

To them, it wasn't "work". It was simply "life". Found it was sort of like being their pastor. Not "work", just "life".

I worked in a physicians office with 7 cardiologists doing nuclear stress tests.
I got paid about half of what I might have made if I worked in a hospital.
But it was close to home, no weekends or holidays or nights, oh, and free parking!
I liked what I did (a solid mix of routine and challenge - you had to keep alert)
And I liked the people I worked with.
