Allow me to lay the foundation for this poll. I am responding to a recently closed thread which contained the following post:

Say what?

That is blatant "onlyism" and I categorically REJECT IT as false teaching, without a verse of scriptural support.

We have pleaded for those who believe such a statement to repent. You have the right to believe error (which I believe your statement reflects) but to say that no one (i.e., ME) will take issue with such belief is simply not true.
Here is the complete quote, which Dr. Bob posted a portion of:
I do not think that anyone would take an issue with this statement, "I believe it [KJV] to be the only valid and accurate Bible we have today (In English)." I believe the problem that others have is when you go a step further and begin to dictate the Bible that others should use.
The emphasis was to be placed on the words, "I believe." My point being, I do not have a problem when someone believes differently than I do on a given issue, it becomes a problem when that differing view is forced on me and I am unable to have a view of my own.

The question is simply this:
"Do you agree or disagree with the basic premise that I just described?"

"Do you agree or disagree with the basic premise presented?" (yes/no)

Better rephrase that question, or start another poll to ask all those who voted "no" what the alternative is to agreeing or disagreeing.

I guess the way it is worded is a bit confusing. The way it is, there could be no "no" answers.

Let me clarify.

If you agree select "yes," if you disagree select, "no."

I take this to be the premise in question?

Definitely a yes here. Anyone can hold any translation they want, but when they try to force theirs on me ("The KJV is God's only bible"), the war is on.

The English language does not have the vocabulary required to express my disdain for those who teach KJOism, and much less my disdain for the doctrine itself. The countless inadequacies of the King James translation of the Bible are so severe that they are readily apparent to anyone who has not been blinded by [edited by me]. And, in my opinion, such individuals should not be allowed to post on a Christian message board, in any forum.

</font>
I agree, Trotter. The sorry part is that I was one of THEM for a long, long time. It took a lot of prayer and study to finally come to the place where I am today.

ATTENTION
For those who say that "nobody is attacking the KJV" I give you the following:

</font>
I have always meant "nobody" in a general way. This post appears on the surface to be intended to inflame emotions. I certainly disagree with the poster.

As do I C4K. I don't attack the KJV, as I use it. I seldom recall anyone saying the KJV isn't a viable, usable version. Most of the "attacks" HAVE been made on KJVOnlyism or on the circular reasoning used by those who continue to post Onlyism nonsense.

I own a pick-up truck that has many mechanical problems, and I am honest enough to admit that they are severe. Nonetheless, that truck was faithful to me for many years and when I hear anyone making disparaging remarks about that truck, it hurts me because I love that old truck—but honesty is honesty, and as a Christian I have to be honest with both myself and with others and admit that my old truck needs a lot of work. Someday, I would like to have my truck restored, but it will never be perfect because men have not the ability to make anything perfect.

If it is important to be honest about an old pick-up truck, it is even more important to be honest about translations of the Bible that are in common use. The King James translation of the Bible, while gradually falling out of use, is still used by millions of people and all Christians have a responsibility before God to speak and write honestly about it. Unfortunately, as has been pointed out in thousands of posts on this message board, there is a group of individuals who cares nothing for honesty so long as the “KJB” is falsely proclaimed as being perfect.

I have never attacked the King James translation of the Bible, and I never will. However, I have never lied about it either, and I never will. Honest, objective observations about the King James translation of the Bible do not constitute attacks, but claims that “modern versions” are part of a communist conspiracy and a work of Satan are not honest, objective observations about “modern versions,” but attacks from hell.

I agree Craig. But there are some here who will continue to do so with their dying breath. :(
