Do you balance your checkbook

When it comes to balancing my checkbook

  • I balance every month to the penny

  • I balance - but its okay as long as I am within a few dollars

  • I just check my bank statement - & as long as there is nothing suspicious

  • Never - I totally trust whatever the bank says

  • Other answer (please specify)

Daily (most of the time) to the penny.

I got in the habit of spending 2 minutes a day when my account was compromised a couple of years ago. I use an excel spreadsheet which does the work. I just put in the amount and a "p" for pending or an "x" for cleared.

Not any more I don't. When I had to get a new computer last August I tried to install the MS Money Software I had used for years. I did install it, but the flash drive's data would not come up after many attempts. I decided that, since I write few checks any more, and have automatic payroll deposit, I just don't need to keep up with balance to-the-penny and to-the-minute any more. That's a radical departure from how I used to be.

I chose "Other answer." I usually balance weekly (because my balance is very weakly!), but at least twice a month.

Yep, I balance to the penny every month. I use a relational database program I wrote using Filemaker Pro software.

I like ITL's answer. "What's a check book?"

We don't have a check book. We use a debit card. The transaction immediately appears on our on-line account page.

Anything we have to pay when we can't use a debit card we use the online bill pay feature. The amount is either transferred from account to account directly or the bank cuts a check and sends it to the creditor. And that appears on our on-line bill-pay page as soon as the check is cut and on the on-line account page when the check is paid from our account.

I can check the transactions whenever I want to.
