Did the ability to do random numbers of icons on one screen change with a recent update to iOS?
What about widgets? Do you still have to swipe down to access them? Or can you put them as an icon on a launcher page?

Nope - Remember that I have the 5c and can't update to the new iOS. So it was able to be done before. As for the swipe - I'm not sure what it is with the new iOS but I still swipe up which is faster to me than touching an icon.

What os are you running? IOS 9.x?
Yes the application bar at the bottom can hold far more icons in IOS 11 on a iPad.
Not what I was getting at. Do you have to swipe down to access the widgets? Or can you put widgets right on the home screen next to icons?

No widgets belong on the swipe left screen. No reason for them to be anywhere else but there.

Classic Apple fanboi. Apple knows best. If you wanted to put widgets somewhere else, you know, customize your device, you can't because they Apple won't let you do it.
How many widgets does Apple allow you to have?
Why swipe at all? Why not have the widgets right on the home screen for easy access?

The last update I could get - 10.3.3
I wouldn't want the widgets on the home screen because I don't use them most of the time but one quick swipe and I have them right there. I don't know how many you can add but I know my kids added 5 or 6 of them to their swipe screen.
Opinions are like armpits....
I use very few widgets. I like the calendar widget and weather on one screen, but I like to have the note widget above every page. The reason is that I often take notes with the phone still locked (just pick up the pen and write on the blank screen). When I unlock the phone my notes are readily available on the note widget. I've found this is great for my work.
That said, it is efficient - for me - but not necessary.
See, I don't like anything accessible from my lock screen so I don't even have the control center available from there. The only thing someone can do is get my emergency contact info (which I know is really important after a friend literally dropped dead while running and no one knew who he was for hours and his phone was completely locked).
This is actually a good practice; and if I may, if one doesn't mind doing it, and it's possible to do it on your lock screen in the emergency contact info - list any medical conditions and/or allergies.
Apple made this really easy on the iPhone. You go to the Health app, click on Medical ID on the bottom right, fill in the info (name, DOB, whether you are an organ donor or not, any medical conditions you have, allergies, medications, height, weight, emergency contacts (and how they are related to you) and then you can have that info available from the lock screen. It is a GREAT resource, IMO!

New poster here. I bring a Bible .... I'm privileged to have the same Bible my great-grandfather once read from, to include his personal notes placed throughout. He was long in Glory before I was born but I enjoy feeling the connection both with Him and with him every time I read it.
