Do you love Jesus?

One of the books I am reading is on the topic of Christology and far more in depth than any systematic theology (survey of doctrine). Its at the graduate level and a book called Jesus Christ Our Lord. Reading this kind of a book makes me wonder why so many debates on the CAL vs. Armin issue, and if people would read books like this one, or books at more easier reading levels focused on Christ perhaps there would not be so many debates and division around here.

Yes John C this one is more difficult of a read than both the 5th Gospel and Tell the Truth Combined. Have to read it very slowly. But its worth it.

Is this Walvoord's book you're talking about? My wife had to read that for her undergrad Bib Doc classes.

If it is, I remember thinking it was the typical DTS systematic heavy proof-texting notorious with the Dallas trinity of Walvoord, Ryrie, & Pentecost.

Again... it is always helpful when you provided an amazon link (so long as you are allowed, which at times I've been rebuffed).

Funny you mention eschatology, b/c Walvoord does a good job of weaving in eschatology w/ Christology. While I disagree of course w/ his eschatology, he made the astute point that at the center of eschatology is Jesus... thus christology. At the time I read it, I was the uber-dispie and it greatly influenced my eschatology. However, like I said, this book is more of an example of Chaferian way of doing theology. It is prooftexting at its best/worst. But I digress... I read it a while ago.

As an aside, I'm not critquing it b/c of its dispie stance. It is the systematic heavy emphasis that is the DTS norm before the 1980s. It is the typical presentation of Walvoord, Ryrie and Pentecost all influenced by Chafer's Syst Theo. And that is my problem I was pointing out. It is the quintessential of what DTS produced back in the glory years between 50s to 70s. Some love it. I did at one time.

PS... I didn't mean to link to amazon the webpage, but link the book to amazon. For example, a good book on Christology is Wright's Jesus and the Victory of God. Now that is a deep read.

I don't care about your opinions on the other matters. I only care about the book content. Get the book and let's discuss it. You want me to read that other book? I already bought 4 new books and used all the free credit so I cannot buy anymore.
