Calvinism makes an absolute mockery of this blessed scene of the Son of God bemoaning the lost condition of Israel. And worse, it mocks His dying love by which He,

"Tasted death for every man."

When I think of such things it reminds me anew of just how sordid and vile Calvinism really is.

Helen and others seem to be concerned about the tone of those who believe in the doctrines of grace that she is moved to say:
And, Mark, judging from the characters exhibited by most of the Calvinists here on this board, I think you are right -- it is a total ego thing and has nothing to do with the real message of the Bible.
,
was thinking of the sarcasm and nastiness of some of the Calvinists posting here.
As to nastiness, I have never seen a "Calvinist" accuse an Arminian of having a doctine founded by Satan, or

. Now that is nasty, but typical of the posts of this individual and others who would consign all who oppose them to Hell. How these remarks get by the moderators is beyond me. There seems to be a bias on this board against Calvinists, and those who denigrate believers in the Doctrines of Grace (Election) are allowed to heap insult on top of insult, so long as it is a non-Arminian being insulted.

First, there is no test for one's being saved except continuing good works.

Second, assurance of salvation could be comming from Satan

Third, isn't is sufficient to do right because it is right and not because it will earn "pie in the sky?"

SeekingTruth, I was called a Devil by Tom Cassidy and ignored it. He, for one, constantly mocks those who do not agree with him. So according to him I don't just have a doctrine founded by Satan, I am the devil himself!~

When I mentioned to whetstone about his being nasty, he said he just considered himself "witty." Hardly.

The fact that there is some return on the part of non-Calvinists, I apologize for. But the fact is, when you look at the threads, the mockery, sarcasm, nastiness, and general bad form are being rather consistently exhibited by a number (not all) of the Calvinists here, which is doing nothing for their 'cause.'

Bill, I disagree with you. There may be no EVIDENCE that others may see for salvation except good works, but the test for me, in my own life, is to look back and see what the Lord has done with me that there is no way I could have done on my own. There is the assurance of answered prayers and the constant care in the most remarkable of circumstances. The witness of my character is the test of the truth of my salvation. I am most certainly not what I was!

Satan could not do that. His 'assurance' would not be in the form of the peace and joy in my heart or the change in my character.

As far as doing right, one always hopes others will, for whatever reason. But the actions are, in the long run, evidence of the condition of the heart. A person who is pretending can only live two lives for just so long. (This is one reason we saw such a high rate of suicide among Mormon young men where I taught in California -- they were expected to strive for perfection and they could not do it on their own).

I think most of the crazy arminian anti-Calvinist comments are allowed because the two mods here are Calvinists. Why you say? Because they want both sides to be heard. If the mods removed or edited every post containing inflammatory comments towards Calvinists or Calvinism, they would be editing all day.

Arminians (or those who are Arminians and won't admit it) are so emotionally charged that the anger and bitterness practically drips from every post. I think the posts are kept to just give them a voice.

My observation anyways.

God Bless,

Helen,
You are right,no person who is born again by the will of God and not of flesh and blood is the same. It is not just me and it is not just you and it is not just a Calvinist nor is it just an Arminian, nor a holiness, nor a, a or a or a, the list goes on and on.

There is no way you, I nor anyone else can know someone's heart, true, we may see the fruit of the Spirit, but we cannot know another's heart.

The Truth is regeneration may happen long before conversion.

The gospel brings to light life and immortality, it does not dispense it nor does it offer it so sinful men may tread it under foot.

The truth is simple.
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mt 11:28 (KJV) Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Re 22:17 (KJV) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am satisfied with this. Neither of us came of our own will, but because we were athirst and neither of us caused our own thirst.

So to repeat "again" --

Obviously IN THE ARMINIAN system it is GOD that "DRAWS ALL mankind to Him" it is GOD that "CONVICTS the WORLD of sin and righteousness and judgment" it is GOD that provides the Gospel and GOD that "Stands at the door KNOCKING"...

To continually point out that GOD is doing this is NOT a point in favor of the distinctives of Calvinism!!

Obviously the DRAWING, the realization of NEED the response to the fact that "GOD is the light that coming into the world ENLIGHTENS EVERYONE" John 1 -- is in PERFECT accord with Arminian acceptance of the fact that "God SO LOVED THE WORLD that HE GAVE" -- first Cause - God Sovereign Gospel provided Mankind Drawn...

That IS Arminianism!

If you wanted to get to the DIFFERENCE then you would have directed your point to "DRAWS ONLY SOME, causes only SOME to thirst"

(But then that would have denied not only the truths taught in Arminianism but ALSO those taught in 3 point Calvinism!!)

Why not come back over to the side of truth on this one Dallas?!

In Christ,

Bob
