Do You See Yourself as Perfect, or Imperfect?

I see an imperfect world filled to overflowing with imperfect folks, and it is the imperfection of imperfect people that actually give me hope for America and the world!

There is no such thing as perfection, and to say one is perfect is a lie. I refer to 1 John 1:6-10 (KJV - I used this version to avoid criticism) where we are taught an important lesson as to our sin nature and the challenge to be honest about our actions. John writes, by these words, "If we say we are joined together with Him but live in darkness, we are telling a lie. We are not living the truth. If we live in the light as He is in the light, we share what we have in God with each other. And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, makes our lives clean from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we lie to ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we tell Him our sins, He is faithful, and we can depend on Him to forgive us of our sins. He will make our lives clean from all sin. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar. And His Word is not in our hearts."

As for my response to this question, let me say that I am not as far along as I had hoped I'd be by this time in my life; nevertheless, I'm not where I was when Jesus came into my heart. And that gives me hope to endure today and all the tomorrows I have left because I can see His handiwork within my personal and spiritual life. And, yes, I'm still imperfect, but I don't feel alone, because I honestly believe that I am an imperfect soul living in an imperfect world, but the difference is (for beievers), I now have the presence of Jesus in my life, and His word to guide my every step! :jesus:

As for the OP --it is rather on the silly side. Who here, would say they are perfect and on what basis? Absolutely no one. So why the poll?

First of all, the word perfect suggests a slight defect. But the Bible presents a far more drastic appraisal. Any ole' worldling upon being asked if he considers himself a sinner will reply:"Well, I'm not perfect." The term imperfect is much too weak of a concept biblically speaking. It implies "I'm a tad off of perfection. I just need to work out a few kinks."

Why are some thread openings dealing with material in which there is no mixed opinion? I'm anticipating: Does a Christain need to born again? Or how about : Is Jesus the Only Savior?

It has to be remembered that this is a Christian forum. I think even Christians on a spiritual diet of milk would chaff at the absurdity of such questions as those posed here and there on the BB.

If practice does not make perfect does perfect practice makes perfect? Of course none of us are perfect but some might think they are. Just consider the dissension on this forum. "Me smart...you stupid" seems to be the party line.

So let me ask you. Do you consider yourself pious? Pious, in that you have a devotion to... or pious in that you consider yourself above others?

an error that my wife pointed out, which I did not notice, nor remember, and still makes me turn in my bed involuntarily every time I remember, the turn that you make when you've got a red boil somewhere in your lower backside, with an "oh, my gosh......oh, gosh...." and an appreciation of the fact that had I been in any other venue somebody might have very ungraciously pointed out to me the error right there:

I was asked to handle the services in place of our pastor who was in attendance of a Primitive Baptist Union/Annual meeting somewhere, and.............and..........
I FORGOT TO HAVE SOMEBODY SAY THE OPENING PRAYER !!!!!!!!!! Just went straight to the word.

Many times i I made the mistake of not taking the offering....the deacons were all frantic and ranto the back with the offering buckets and I got the death stare :laugh:
