It would be interesting to know what you, as a believer thinks about the NFL's decision to suspend QB Tom Brady, and the fine against the Patriots with loss of draft picks? Keep in mind, when a college team is found to have cheated or not followed NCAA rules, they often lose championships; scholarships and the right to post season appearances.
Also, as a parent, what does this punishment convey to the youth of America when it comes to cheating, or gaining an unfair advantage or your opponent?
I am interested in how you, as Christians view this entire situation. Thanks ...
Not a big football fan, but I do watch a few games now and then, and my team has been Dallas since I think 1978, if that was the year Superbowl 13 was, where those evil yanks Pittsburg beat Dallas (and actually now I have forgiven them and I root for both teams, or the underdog, whichever comes first).
Have they proven someone deflated them?
The first thought I had was "Well, it was very cold...where were the balls stored?" Cold will deflate air pressure.
But in the general sense, there should be repercussion for any breaking of the rules, no matter the issue. And this should not interfere with the spirit of competition, even as Paul describes it in athletic terms:
1 Corinthians 9:24
King James Version (KJV)
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
It seems these days wrong-doing is excused instead of being punished, and people are discouraged from being the best at what they do.
When someone evades the work and effort necessary to be distinguished above the rest, and goes so far as to cheat to accomplish that...they should be revealed for what they are.
So did they prove it?
God bless.
