Have always done my own. Have used turbo tax for about 10 years. Had a CPA tell me last year that TT was the best program.

I've used TaxAct for the last 5 years or so.

I finished state and federal taxes yesterday and sent them off.

I'll do local taxes next weekend.

I really hated the intrusion of adding healthcare information into my tax forms!

I have used taxact for at least the last 7 or 8 years.

I have only paid someone to do my taxes once in my life because I had 3 different states to file and I was young & stupid and took my 401K money when I changed jobs. That year I owed taxes to the feds I sent them the check and they cashed it. A few months later I got a letter thanking me for filing my taxes and saying that I had not sent in a payment for taxes owed. I furnished the irs a copy of the canceled check and a few months later got a letter saying my payment had been received but without an apology for their mistake. I know paying someone to do my taxes didn't have anything to do with the irs saying I hadn't sent the payment, but it is interesting that I have never had s similar problem when I do them myself.

I used to do my own, but any money saved from paying another just went to the cardiologist!
The best thing I ever did was to let a CPA do mine as it kept my BP normal, my digestion normal, and my family not tippy-toeing around me for those several days.
Part of the problem was figuring out how to decipher the code, but the worst was thinking about the friggin' waste by the gov't that I was having to pay for. It is WELL WORTH the fees to let the CPA do it; I think I have added at least 10 years to my life.

I've already answered that we do ours but years ago when my husband had a business, he had an accountant do ours, both the business and our personal. But when he sold the business, the taxes became much easier and totally within our skill set. :)
