He is making the condition to be placed on the sinner not the Saviour. The Saviour met all the conditions, not us.

I still agree.
One must be "in Him" to be elect, according to Scripture.

The thing is, those who will believe are already "in Him", according to
Ephesians 1:4. :D

He just doesn't appear to see it.:Frown

In some versions, it says the Christ is the lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.[Revelation 13:8] It also says our names were written in the Lamb's Book of Life from before the creation of the world.[Revelation 17:8] Election took place from before the creation of the world, but took place in time. It says the Lamb was slain from before the creation of the world, yet His crucifixion took place in time.

Only where "apo" is mistranslated.

Since when is the receiving of the gift also considered part of the giving of the gift?

When the active receiving of the gift makes it a reward, instead of a gift.
If it were passive, then the recieving of it makes it a gift.

Uh, that verse doesn't say that.

It does to me.
With respect, I'm not in your head, so I'm not privy to what's keeping you from seeing the words on the page.

I see it, and quite clearly.:Smile

Wait what? No such thing as passively receiving a gift. I gave my son a bday gift and he reached out and took it and made it his. In no way can it be considered that he also took part in the giving of that gift. It is an absurd idea.

I have yet to find a single particular/ reformed/ calvinist etc who can actually answer that question.

There's a big difference between someone handing you an apple, and you taking it from their hand;

...and a person coming up behind you unexpectedly, taking your hand and pressing an apple into it.

One had the condition of reaching out and taking it applied to the "deal", while the other had no conditions on it whatsoever.

Eternal life is a gift, not a reward, good sir.
To actively take it by believing is what makes it a reward.

God graciously causing us to believe ( Psalms 65:4, Acts of the Apostles 13:48, John 6:29, John 6:64-65, John 10:26, Philippians 1:29 ), is what makes it a gift. :Thumbsup

Go to a funeral home and hold out a gift to a corpse and see how quick he/she reaches out for it.

@Revmitchell

Will you please answer this?

One question...

God so loved the world...John 3:16

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.[John 17:6-9]

Now, if God loved the world, meaning everybody from all times, then why does the Christ not pray for the world in the above passage?

If God loves the world, and the world means everybody w/o exception, then why is the Christ not praying for those very ppl the Father loves? You have the triune God at odds with Each Other.

Paul also said we are to consider ourselves dead to sin. If dead meant a corps then that would mean we are unable to sin.

Dead in no way mean unable to respond it means separated in relationship. Jesus told the church of Sardis that they were dead and commanded them to wake up.

Scripture shows over and over again that man is able and responsible to repent and believe.

I don't know who you think "those you have given me" but they are not everyone who believes they are His immediate disciples.

Dead is nekros. Literally, a dead corpse.

We died in Adam, not got a chest cold.

That's not what I asked.
