Does it Matter at all what the Age of the Earth is?

Can Adam's Creation Year be known just by the Bible (give or take a few years)?

But I am not seeing any logic coming from you on this. You continue to ignore Gen 1:2
Genesis 1:2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Earth and water are two of the things that God made within the six days mentioned in Exodus.
If the six days started, and then…

Exodus 20:11
… in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

If the sea is water, and I don’t find that to be an excessive leap in logic, then Genesis 1:2, without the things made within the six days would read like this…

Genesis 1:2
And the _______ was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the ______. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the _________.

And you can’t assume they just exist when Scripture says they are part of what was created within the six days.

Thanks for the opportunity to earnestly contend for the faith here.

My purpose is not to one up anyone.

It is Only that God declared that everything, from heaven to earth to sea, and everything in them, including the stars the fish and Adam and Eve was made in six days and then God ceased from His work.
There is not room for a gap any larger than the amount of time that God did not need during a 24 hour day.

The literal week of literal 24hour days that were given to us as a pattern to live by in creation, were taught to us clearly in Exodus as the pattern.

Afterwards genealogies don’t really allow for much more than 6,000 years.

So, I find no reason to accept any gap, especially one that includes all the ….zoic rock layers with all kinds of forms of extinct life in them when God said the earth had no form and was empty.
If it really was empty, that means no fossils of any kind. They would be forms and not an empty earth.

May the Lord bless you as you continue your studies in His Word and His world.

The water, according to Exodus 20:11 was made within the 6days of creation.
So the Spirit of God moving on the face of the water must have happened after the 6days began.

Actually what it says is that He made the seas. The water was already there see Gen 1:6.

That could just as easily have happened 6,000-10,000 years ago. You haven’t explained why you think that it takes God so long to move on the face of the water.

It absolutely can work within a YEC view.

Did not say it could not but how does that fit with Gen 1:2 since it is mentioned prior to Gen 1:3-31.

Gen 1:2 the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.
Gen 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

Thank you Ben you have finally done what I have been trying to get you to do. You have dealt with Gen 1:2.

But you have still not accounted for formless and void or for that matter how long the Holy Spirit swept over the waters prior to God say "Let there be light"

Please note what it says here

Gen 1:9 And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." That is forming the seas Ben. The water was already there.

What I have attempted to show you Ben is that your view can be questioned from scripture. You see it as proof of YEC others use the same scriptures and see it as OEC or GAP.

What cannot be questioned is Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,

People will continue to disagree over the various views but they all agree with Gen 1:1.

As you said and I agree
