Does it really matter if you're a Calvinist?

you are quoting from Church "Fathers" who, doctrine wise, may likely be compared to Chinese Christians who read their Scriptures and get their doctrines from three, four, five pages of Bibles they pass on to each other during their meetings about a decade ago before Tiananmen and the roads it opened up for complete Bibles.

Remember that the first complete and written Bible was by John Wycliffe in the 1300's and the first complete and printed one was in the 1400's.

Pinoy, not sure how you feel, but I for one, would be convinced that people who were largely denied access to a knowledge of God through the scriptures, and managed to get a few pages of precious scripture, then I could be totally confident for those the HS would indeed prevent grievous error in their zeal to know the God of the Bible.

I never said they were grievous errors. My point is that these so-called church "fathers" had no access to the completed word of God at that point in their lives and therefore had no way to arrive at any of the doctrines we hold on to in todays' soteriological spectrums.

Just look at the implications of what most of them are saying.
Would you agree that any of God's child whether he belongs to the whosoever or the elect camp would lose their salvation or negate the blood of Christ shed for their redemption based on their works ?

Yet that is the implication of most of their statements.

Now Robert, who told you that fib? I cant say lie cause it hurts too many on the other sides feelings?

No one told me, it's just my guess considering the tenets of Calvinism. Of course I'm speaking in general terms; this shouldn't be construed to apply to all DoG's.

So, when death comes and we open our eyes in heaven, God will not be standing there holding a list in his hand and reading out anyone's soteriology and based on that admit you into heaven or kick you out to hell.

Instead He will be standing there ready to wipe away tears from our eyes, and guess what: NEITHER YOU NOR I NOR ANY OF THE WISE GUYS IN THIS FORUM AND BOARD WILL EVEN BE ABLE TO REMEMBER WHETHER WE WERE CALVINISTS, DoG, WHOSOVER, PELAGIAN, SEMI-PELAGIAN.

Finally, something from pinoybaptist I can agree with wholeheartedly! :applause:
