    Careful now...

1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Probably a difference of locales and culture.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, LeBuick, but it was still God that saved, not the preaching. Preaching, in and of itself, cannot save. But God can use the preaching, and does oftentimes, to bring repentance and salvation. Only Christ saves.

    Who are we preaching?...
    Jesus...

    What are we preaching?
    Jesus Saves.

Preaching will bring the lost to Christ... Christ takes over then.

Joh 4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
Joh 4:40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
    Joh 4:41 And many more believed because of his own word;

We just need to get them to Jesus. That is what preaching does.

Obviously, most of the posters on this thread do not equate the worship only with music. But some worship leaders do. Here's a good blog item on from Fido:

Scroll down a couple of items.

Sad indeed. I once heard James Forbes, pastor of Riverside Church in New York, describe how when he arrived at Riverside and introduced some of his Pentecostal background to that very formal place, some choir members responded by ostentatiously pulling out books or magazines to read during the sermon! What arrogance!

Not meaning to sound flip, but I'd say a bigger problem in many churches is that worship never started. :tear: So it didn't stop when the music stopped.

I agree.. Spirit and in Truth. Spirit and in Truth.

There is no other formula for worship, Spirit and in Truth.

Where is the recipe for this formula?

Boy, Ed, did this trigger a memory. I attended a charismatic church service with a friend and I'll never forget that the service started with a heavy drum beat, the music leader clapping his hands and urging the congregation "c'mon, c'mon, we've got to get in the spirit. C'mon, let's go!" I've wondered if it takes a heavy beat to get one into the spirit, is what follows true worship, or just an adrenaline rush.

In this case, does worship stop unless the beat goes on?

And I was not even remotely referring to charismatics, either.

The mental picture that raised.... Almost like pupets on a string, the drummer stop and they all fall down.
