Right now my wife is on a mission... My history after being married for over thirty years is I lost my first Christian wife to kidney cancer and fell in love and married another Christian lady and after she retired as a teacher and we had been married 10 years she developed Breast Cancer and went through chemotherapy and radiation... Her mission since she survive it all is to help those weather in our church or not or even go to church is help those with cancer with homemade comfort items... She is now the head of The Cancer Care and Compassion Group at our church... Just recently we were visiting Costco and noticed one of the checkers wearing a cancer ribbon... He said his Mother-In-Law is going thru cancer so we got his address and delivered the bag to his house... One bag cost $100.00 to make and I wish I could show you one but brethren the gospel is not words (the words come later)...The gospel is caring for others that is the gospel... You can preach all you want but if you don't care what good does it do?... Action fills a church... Ah the book of ACTS!... And as they say a picture is worth a thousand words... Brother Glen:)

Revelation 22: 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

I have no idea how one takes "spread the gospel of Christ wherever one can" to mean "just sit back and do nothing".

Glen, it's both. Romans 10 shows us this. Many people try the Social Gospel and feed people human food while their spirit dies from starvation.
Faith works. Faith speaks. Faith goes. Faith makes things. God uses faith to draw his yet unredeemed children to him as he goes about setting them free.

God always draws His elect according to His timing and purposes. So if you "elect" are all chosen in advance what do you have to do, nothing. If you go out to preach or not it will not make any difference.according to your theology. So you need to just sit back and do nothing.

It shows a lack of a thought process to not understand that God uses means to effect His sovereign will in time.

Romans 10:13-15 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

FYI, personally, as I understand God's choicing, those who become God's elect, do so at the time one accepts God's gift of salvation. This understanding does not change Ephesians 1:4 or Ephesians 1:13.

Ken I am not questioning what God does I am questioning your theology that has removed man's decision from the equation. Your theology makes the gospel moot as God does not need to use that to save anyone as according to your view He has already saved all those picked out ones. They can't be lost according to your view. So all you calvinists are just spinning your wheels doing make work.

But the text you posted (Romans 10:13-15) shows exactly what we free will people have been telling you. The person has to hear the gospel and believe the gospel and then God saves them.

Rom 10:8 But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART" (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME."
Rom 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
Rom 10:13 For "WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED."

I agree God knows who will come to faith (Ephesians 1:4) His is omniscient. And man has to accept the truth of the gospel message (Ephesians 1:13) and trust in Christ Jesus for salvation. We are saved by Gods' grace through (because of our) faith (Ephesians 2:8). If one continues in their unbelief the God does not save them. We are on the same page in this matter.

    What you wrote is false.

Psalms 110:3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.

    What you wrote is false.

1 Corinthians 4:5-7 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

@Silverhair What you are arguing against is referred to as a "straw man". It shows that either you know you are using distortion due to the weakness of our position, or you are just flailing around in darkness.

They can't be lost according to the words of Christ.

John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

    Amen!

Romans 3:3-4 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written,

That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings,
And mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Remember Ken I am not questioning what God does I am questioning your theology that has removed man's decision from the equation. They can't be lost according to your view.

How is what I said false? Is what I said regarding calvinism not what calvinism teaches? Your the ones that say man has no free will and yet here you are showing that man has a free will. In the day of Gods' power those that have heard the gospel and believed the gospel will be willing those that reject the gospel will not be willing.

A strawman would be me putting forward a false view of your theology and then knocking it down but I am not doing that. I am showing you what your theology teaches and showing the error in it. You have to use mans free will to have them come to God in faith That is you realizing that your view does not work as you would like it to and then trying co-op the view you say is false.

It makes the human the one who forces God to elect them since God couldn't do so until the human determined to do so.
Your position is a great example of man ruling over God.

Yes, you are. And you should be ashamed of yourself for doing so, especially after you have been proven wrong in what you have said about me.
