Dr. Benjamin Carson for President

Dr. Benjamin Carson for President

Hopefully if we have another black president it will be Dr. Carson or someone like him. Raised by a single mother who worked as a "domestic" and raised 3 sons she apparently instilled in Dr. Carson something that every American needs. Heve been unable to find the text of his speech but he had some inspirational comments on the Hannity show tonight. And he is not afraid to mention GOD. [http://video.foxnews.com/v/2152476170001/doctor-lectures-obama-on-americas-crippling-debt ]

I have been thinking lately that Senator Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire could well be the first woman President. She impresses me as the possible American Iron Lady like Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain. Who better to start with than the first Black President of the United States. So in 2016 how does Carson & Ayotte sound?

Move over President Obama. Conservatives are not talking so much about the president’s address at Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast, but rather remarks from Dr. Benjamin Carson, a black pediatric neurosurgeon with Johns Hopkins Hospital who took over the stage for 25 riveting minutes.
Mr. Carson spoke of his disdain for political correctness, calling it a “dangerous” and “horrible thing” that has led to such ridiculous fears as wishing people Merry Christmas, according to The Blaze.

He also talked about the moral decay of American, and cautioned of a Rome-like fate, and — in front of Mr. Obama, who sat just feet from the podium — confronted the issue of America’s debt and current fiscal policy.

“Our deficit is a big problem,” Mr. Carson said, according to The Blaze. “Think about it — and our national debt — $16 and a half trillion dollars.” And here’s one of his most daring lines, as reported by The Blaze: “What about our taxation system — so complex there is no one that can possibly comply with every jot and tittle. When I pick up my Bible, you know what I see? I see the fairest individual in the universe — God — and he’s given us a system. It’s called tithe.”

Conservatives are applauding.

I watched a movie about this guy on Netflix, Gifted Hands, The Ben Carson Story.

I'd never heard of him or the movie but decided to check it out sheer boredom one evening ...turned out to be a really good movie! He went from not being able to read in elementary school to a top groundbreaking neurosurgeon. Really smart guy!

I heard many of the sound bites from his speech and heard him on Hannity. I loved what he had to say and that right in front of the POTUS. WOW--but does anyone truly believe Obama took any of it to heart?

I don’t think Dr. Ben Carson has any desires to run for president but IF he did I believe the usual tactics from the media to tear him down would be hard pressed to find ANYTHING on him to do so.

Here is his speech at the prayer breakfast:

I would suggest that any parent with elementary aged children should sit and watch this inspiring movie about the story of Ben Carson’s life with them and have a talk afterward.

Dr. Carson is black but not a female. Senator Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire is a female and white.

I have been impressed by Senator Ayotte's effort to hold Obama culpable in the Benghazi debacle. She seems to be a very intelligent person and with a well controlled manner which I believe is essential in high office.

I had never heard of Dr. Carson until I caught Bob Beckel on the tail end of the "five" dumping on Dr. Carson for taking on Obama at the prayer breakfast. Dr. Carson is obviously a very intelligent and capable person to be able to make it given his background. He obviously had an admirable mother who instilled in him not only a work ethic, but character and the fear of God.

There is no doubt that if Senator Ayotte ran for president or vice president she would be portrayed by the leftist media and perhaps by some on this Board as a slut as was Governor Sarah Palin.

There is no doubt that if Dr. Carson ran for president or vice president he would be portrayed by the leftist media and perhaps by some on this Board in a manner that would make the leftist trashing of Justice Thomas seem mild by comparison.

I have actually thought for some months that Senator Ayotte might be the first woman president. She may be enough like the "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher to win and govern.

As I said I had not heard of Dr. Carson before yesterday but his willingness to confront Obama face to face surely impressed me. In fact I don't recall ever having as favorable first impression of a man as I did Dr Carson. First impressions are frequently wrong but generally must be corrected for the better.

Award-Winning Neurosurgeon Offers Alternatives to ObamaCare and the Income Tax

"Dr. Ben Carson is a nationally recognized neurosurgeon and Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast this week in which he outlined a simple way to fund healthcare without the need of a 2700-page law that will be implemented by faceless and nameless bureaucrats and death panels. President and Mrs. Obama were in attendance. Here is Dr. Carson’s healthcare solution:

“When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a Health Savings Account to which money can be contributed — pretax — from the time you’re born ’til the time you die. When you die, you can pass it on to your family members, so that when you’re 85 years old and you got six diseases, you’re not trying to spend up everything. You’re happy to pass it on and there’s nobody talking about death panels.

“[F]or the people who were indigent who don’t have any money we can make contributions to their HSA each month because we already have this huge pot of money. Instead of sending it to some bureaucracy, let’s put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care.”

Why doesn’t government like something like this? Because government’s not involved. There are no votes to be gained from people made dependent on government handouts.

You may remember Dr. Carson. In 1987, with a 70-member surgical team, he was the first surgeon who successfully separated Siamese Twins conjoined at the back of the head. In addition to many other honors, in 2008, President George W. Bush awarded Dr. Carson with the Presidential Medal of Freedom award, the highest civilian award in the United States.

His rise from struggling student to gifted surgeon is told in the book Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story. In 2009, the book was adapted for television and starred Academy Award winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr.

Dr. Carson is no stranger to controversy. In 2012, Dr. Carson was condemned by hundreds of faculty members, students, and alumni at Emory University because of his rejection of the evolutionary origin of life. Carson was to give the Commencement address. The open-minded and always-inquiring scientists didn’t like his views, so they pressured to have him disinvited.

In addition to his healthcare proposal, Dr. Carson had some things to say about the deficit, government spending, and the nation’s taxing structure. Following the biblical mandate of a tithe — ten percent — he made this proposal for an equitable taxing structure:

“I don’t like to bring up problems without coming up with solutions… What about our taxation system? It is so complex, there is no one who can possibly comply with every jot and tittle. That doesn’t make any sense.

“What we need to do is come up with something that’s simple. The inherently fair principle is proportionality: you make 10 billion dollars, you put in a billion. You make 10 dollars, you put in one. Of course, you have to get rid of the loopholes.

“Some people say, ‘That’s not fair! It’s doesn’t hurt the guy who made 10 billion dollars.’ Where does it say you have to hurt that guy? He just put a billion dollars into the pot!”

Presidents are citizens. They are not kings. There is nothing inappropriate about speaking the truth in the presence of any of our nation’s elected officials. Dr. Carson did it in a respectful but truthful way. Now if we can only get our elected representatives to do likewise."
