One good thing about the virus, most people recover unlike other past pandemics. Imagine if you would how would this country deal with a modern version of plaque killing maybe 150 or 200 million Americans? , seeing how this minor pandemic has stopped life here.

In that case, those that survived would be the unfortunate ones, much like if there was a nuclear war.

For a few years yes devastating, but society would pick up again, just like it did in Europe. Justinian's plague was just as bad as the black death. I read that the survivors of the black deaths were selected by their genes, they had a resistance the others lacked, which is one reason those massive plagues did not return and they became less virulent. Similar plagues struck native americans killing many of them but the Europeans who exposed them to those diseases were mostly immune.

For Justinian's plague
The number of deaths is uncertain. Some modern scholars believe that the plague killed up to 5,000 people per day in Constantinople at the peak of the pandemic.[32] According to one view, the initial plague ultimately killed perhaps 40% of the city's inhabitants and caused the deaths of up to a quarter of the human population of the Eastern Mediterranean.[33] Frequent subsequent waves of the plague continued to strike throughout the 6th, 7th and 8th centuries, with the disease becoming more localized and less virulent. A revisionist view expressed by scholars such as Lee Mordechai and Merle Eisenberg has recently argued that the mortality of the Justinian Plague was far lower than previously believed.[34]

After the last recurrence in 750, pandemics on the scale of the Plague of Justinian did not appear again in Europe until the Black Death of the 14th century

The covid 19 numbers are skewed. Anyone who dies and has it is automatically numbered as having died from it. The counting process is not honest.

‘ “We're seeing that stabilizing and that gives us great encouragement,” Birx said.

Birx acknowledged a rising death toll, however, but said that those numbers reflect the people who were infected by COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, two to three weeks ago, before some of the strict guidelines were implemented. ‘

As soon as the quick tests are in place, Trump will open things up, I predict. Like he tweeted today, it'll be sooner rather than later.

I was thinking the same thing. It's like when we take antibiotics but stop when we start feeling better and the infection comes back twice as bad.

Too bad that we don't have N95 masks for everyone. I imagine that we will have masks for everyone in abundance long before fall. We could continue normally with N95 masks.

Secondly, I find myself wondering if some of those patients could have been saved if the FDA had not had to have been prodded by the French?
