Dreams

Ok, do dreams mean anything?

This is meant to be a humorous thread combined with a serious question...
For instance....

I Dreamed I was playing football last night... I broke one tackle, broke another... I was running down field, swerve to the left, then to the right.. spinning... and then... and then... I woke up when I fell out of bed!.. Of course my wife is laughing her head off when I told her this morning!

I wonder what this means....

Then I've been dreaming a lot about tornadoes, and going to a safe room, and when I get to the room, I see a lot of various people from my past.. In each dream the people change.

So go ahead.. have fun with these, and let's see if someone can interpret the rambling dreams of a crazy pastor!

RE: Falling out of bed:

It could mean that you have a physiological sleep problem as the brain releases chemistry to paralyze you in order to keep this very thing from happening.

It doesn't always work and people will have experiences such as yours, falling, sleepwalking, etc... Seriously, you could harm yourself.

Other than that, I too have had very lucid dreams i.e. about my mother (who has passed away).

My mind dismisses them as nothing but my heart, well, that's a different story. I am glad to see her again.

Your dream was this (per Joseph...he told me the interpretation in my dream)

The football was the word of God. There are 11 men on a football field representing the 11 tribes of Israel. You were bringing the Word to the 12th tribe which occurs just before the rapture of the Church. Since they are hardened, they were trying to prevent you from doing so. Falling out of bed symbolizes your stumble from slumber to take heed in doing so with great haste!

The people you encounter make up the peoples of the world who will benefit from your ministry.

The tornado's symbolize the area (Tornado Valley) you flee to after you have rebelled and ignored God's call to go to the middle east as Jonah did with Ninevah. Your safety will only come from immediately repenting, fleeing this land and going to Israel (the safe room).

Hurry...time is short!

Tim, I'll give you a serious answer (for once.) I'm no psychologist and don't claim to be, but I've had some experience with recurrent dreams and studied about it to see what was going on.

I found out some interesting facts. One is that random dreams really don't mean anything important. Most everyone experiences crazy or scary dreams at some point in life. No big deal.

Two, reoccurring dreams may have a psychological reason. If you are constantly dreaming about impending doom (such as the tornado) it may be you are seriously worried about something you cannot control and it is affecting your sleep. I would pray and ask God to show you what this might be, because sometimes we stuff things inside to ignore it rather than deal with it. I can always tell when something at work or church is bothering my dh, because he literally "wrestles" in his sleep when he is worried/angry/frustrated to a big degree. Once when we SERIOUSLY wanted to leave the church, we were under so much stress I started having panic attacks. Hubby seemed ok during the day, but at night he was almost violent during sleep. When the issue at church was resolved, his sleep pattern went back to normal, and my panic attacks completely stopped.

Just my $.02.

That makes a lot of common sense...

Another one that I have reoccuring (I've had since I was young).. I am in a car, and something happens to the car.. .breakdown, accident, flood, snowy conditions... etc. I have my "car" dream at least 3-4 times a week....

Maybe Webdog is right.. I need to "Travel" to Israel!.. I just can't drive there!

Dreams simply reflect what is on your mind, especially your worries.

As I say that, and really belive it, it's an interesting coincidence that I remember a dream this morning that, as I was joking around with birthday wishes for my sister (this is, in fact, her birthday), my mother, deceased 9 years, appeared and said, "___, don't you know (my sister) is feeling very bad today, and may get worse?" That was it. So I went on with my plans to wish her a happy birthday via Facebook with a cheerful line--

"May the milestone you are now passing by
Reflect brightly from the sun, still high in the sky."

If I do find out she's very ill and I didn't know it ........

It means you're watching too much football, therefore you need to give your tv away.

There's also a psyhcological path from the tv to the refrigorator to the microwave to the stovetop to the oven-----therefore dreams are ways to make us realize we are hungry---er than we think---so therefore----keep dreamin'----it'll make you preach better on Sunday mornings where you wonder while you are preaching-----"Am I dreamin'--or is this real????":laugh:

I have dreamed that I'm in the pulpit with no sermon. Last night I dreamed that I was mimicking Adrian Rogers. No, as I think about, Adrian Rogers was in the congregation. Dreams can be so confusing. At least I wasn't preaching in my underwear. I've had that dream too. Talk about a nightmare.

Something to think about, I have been waking up a lot from me moving...

Let me recommend you get a sleep study. When my husband started waking ME up because he was moving around so much I made him talk to his doc. Turns out, he has a very severe case of sleep apnea and he'd quit breathing on average of once every 29 seconds for an average of 30 seconds per occurance! Then he'd jerk himself awake, thus waking me of course. CPAP machine has made alllllllll the difference!

One night, my granddad has a dream. Or, rather, a nightmare. He was so scared, he chewed his pillow to bits. In the morning, I said, "How do you feel?" He sais, "Not bad. A little down in the mouth."

I dreamed I was a muffler, when I woke I was exhausted.

The next night I dreamed I was a flat tire, when I woke I was depressed.
