Duke University Enhances Restrictions After COVID-19 Surge on Mostly Vaccinated Campus

"All but eight of those individuals were vaccinated, and the “vast majority” are asymptomatic, the university administrators said in a letter to the campus community. “A small number” of them have minor cold- and flu-like symptoms, and none have been hospitalized. (From the op article)

It is good to see the vaccine seems to be working as predicted. We have similar results here. The vaccinated are having very few, if any, covid symptoms. Our hospitals are at capacity with unvaccinated covid patients (much younger than last year, which is concerning).

But that is something to keep in mind, especially if you are unvaccinated. The vaccine (like most of our vaccines, does not provide sterilising immunity so vaccinated people can get covid and be contagious). There have been several reports of vaccinated people not even knowing they had the virus.

A casual connection at best nothing conclusive about whether the vax was the cause of lack of hospitalizations.

the vast majority of people who get covid in this country get very few symptoms and recover like it’s the flu.

further it has been admitted that the tests often create a false positive and cannot differentiate between the actual flu or covid.

that is what science has determined. The scaremongering over covid is what the propaganda has determined.

Yes, their is a delusional psychosis occurring in the responses to the disease.

Not per the article....that you posted.

The irony is that this....coincidence....or casual connection...us being played out on the ground across the nation. We have seen the sane thing here in the CSRA and where I work at SRS. The UK reported the same coincidence.

If lives are being saved by coincidence then let it continue.

Duke University on Monday enacted stricter mask and vaccine policies after a surveillance test returned hundreds of positive results for COVID-19 among its overwhelmingly vaccinated student and staff population.

Your point?

We all know that breakthrough infections occur. This is in no way evidence against the wisdom of getting the vaccine.

You wouldn't be trying to frame the issue to emphasize the relatively weak performance of the vaccine in preventing infection while concealing the fact that the vaccine performs admirably where it really matters - preventing serious illness and death - would you?

Neither you nor I are qualified to render such judgments.

What do the experts say?

The answer is clear: there is indeed solid evidence that vaccines are causally connected to reductions in hospitalizations.

Not only that - but look at the article he posted!

We had about 166 covid cases over the last couple of months. Of these 12 (unvacvinated) were hospitalized and 4 died (unvacvinated).

The article @Revmitchell posted shows 368 vaccinated people with covid....most asymptomatic, a few with cold like symptoms, none hospitalized.

How long can people deny what is in plain view???

I mean....he's the one who posted the article.
