E.U. raises white flag.

I have discovered that freedom of speech and press are very important to most Europeans. Even Ireland, with strong anti-Israel feelings and with an open armed acceptance of Islam has supported the publication of these cartoons (although only a couple of tabloids have run them).

This a tough issue. Most countries in Europe have now run the cartoons. A newspaper in France did so yesterday and no one has protested the right of the newspapers to print it, except these Muslim thugs what we are seeing on the telly.

A demonstration in Dublin today marched past the Danish embassy, but thankfully was peaceful. There is a huge demonstation planned for London tomorrow.

It would be nice if this voluntary code would be applied to keep some of the anti-Christian stuff from being published.

This magazine and website withdrew the cartoons on their own. There is a massive protest scheduled for London tomorrow. Sctoland Yard is going to be stretched already. Sounds like discretion to me rather than surrender.

Just out of curiosity, are all the American papers, news sources, and websites running these cartoons?

 

I think Americans almost expect this kind of insulting action, but we say, "oh you dirty rat" or something and it's over. We know everyone has the right to say pretty much anything, and are almost amused at the outragousness of the offender. I'm actually amazed at the mindset that has to live with these views. These whack jobs see nothing but confrontation as a suitable response. It's life in an earlier time.

I just would resist changing my culture to accomodate theirs.

 

We're forgetting one thing. The cartoons currently arousing furor in the Muslim world were originally published last fall, without any hooplah. Some Danish imams denounced them then as offensive, but the Muslism community could have cared less. So, some of those Danish imams took them cartoons to the middle east, and added several fabricated cartoons of their own devising. They went around saying the Danish government was opressing Danish muslims and putting these cartoons out.

In other words, these imams went to part of the Muslims world that was made up of mostly undereducated isolated people, and fed them a bunch of fabrications in order to incite the current furor.

So before we paint any muslims with a broad bruch, we must keep in mind that they are being controlled by their religious leaders. These imams despise democracy, because it means taking control away from the imams, and putting it into the hands of the people. This is a way for them to brainwash the people into thinking that democracy is bad, and theocracy is good.

This was all carefully planned and orchestrated. They even went to the trouble to be sure they had plenty of Danish flags on hand for their protests.

Those "imams" you mentioned, or whoever else is involved, are guilty of being complicit in the deaths of their fellow muslims.

I wonder if they'll proclaim martyrdom for the ones that died in the protests, as they do for homocide bombers.
