Easter/Passover are they the same?

Yes, that is limited research. 8o) The mention of
Easter in the KJV is anachronistic because the
believers of the Scriptures Did Not Celebrate
Easter; they observed Passover. This is not
about who or when the Bible was translated; it is
about the early believers.

Furthermore, the Greek word cannot, by any
stretch of the imagination, be translated to any
word other than Passover or Pesach. 8o)
Believers then would have been horrified at the
suggestion of doing easter instead of Passover--
with good reason.

Thank You SonofCoffeeMan,

That shed some light on what I heard about the origins of Easter. I found your post very enlightening and I thank you for it. You've given me some new knowledge. That's always a blessing.

DocCas --

It has been my habit to believe nothing regarding
controversies of the Bible until I have personally
seen the item in a minimum of three trusted pub-
lications. I have never seen such a thing before
now, and I will wait, to believe it, until I have seen
it in those publications.

Thank you for drawing this to my attention.

Glad I could help, although i am not sure if i really answered the main question of this thread.

i can't tell if you were being facetious or if you really want to know. If you do, just confirm it to me and I will get you detailed information about the books i used (i think i referenced 3 or 5)

Oh, no! I am not being facetious! When I said
that for me to believe notes on controversial
parts of the Bible must come from a minimum
of three unrelated sources before I believe
them, I meant it. This is based upon experience.

The sources must:
* Not have an agenda which could cause con-
jecture to be taught as fact in order to prove a
point
* Not be by the same author or from the same
religion
* Have authors who are scholars.

In all my years of Bible study, while I have never
studied this topic with regard to the language of
the KJV, I have never read or heard this said.
Easter was, indeed, a pagan holiday, and it had
absolutely nothing to do with Passover as far as
those who practice Passover are concerned. If
someone applied the word erroneously to Pass-
over, I cannot help but wonder at their agenda.

When I do Passover with my Baptist-based
Synagogue next year, if I say that I am doing
Easter, I will get about 200 sets of eyes, with
bright-red question marks flashing in them,
turned upon me.

Firstoff, your most recent response (and the one that immediately followed mine) seem to indicate that you do not understand the point that I was making by posting that "history lesson".

Second, I cant get the references. This is not a cop out. I just remembered after I put up the post that the library i got the books from closed for the summer on Friday. They were all commentaries by conservative scholars if that does anything for you. And if not, well, after you reread my post then I would say go do some looking on the things I mentioned and you should find some of the same information.

Thank you--I appreciate what you are saying; I
know that those things happen. But this thread
has gotten me curious enough that the idea will
not be forgotten, and I will be looking into it.
Thank you for your consideration.

o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o

I have checked out 21 sources on this subject
today, two of which I would discount as unreli-
able, and none of them said anything similar to
what has been written here about the KJV's use
of the word, Easter, Of course, I also tried
Numerous other sources that did not go into it at
all. I will keep looking.
