When God chooses to administer that Amazing Grace in us and cause us to hear His voice, we respond by believing and repenting.

Our difference is that you think spiritually dead people cause God to act.

Not so Grace cannot be had with out faith. We are saved by Grace because of our faith. Grace comes through faith so no faith no grace. You have this backwards you say Grace causes faith this is not so.

I think God acts by making spiritually dead people alive and thus cause humans to respond in belief and repentance.

Maybe you shouldn't think.

Ephesians 2:1-9 supports my view. John 6, John 10, John 17, 2 Thessalonians 2 and Romans 8-9 all support my view.

It amazes me that you think God's word is nonsense.
This is false
What you claim scripture says is nonsense because God's word does not back you up
Maybe you should try the Koran. At least it fits you r doctrines.

MB, Your statement above has zero support in the Bible.

You have made Grace an object that a human grabs ahold of by faith. Your statement is heretical or at least entirely ignorant.

God tells us we are saved by grace. Grace is God giving to us what we don't deserve. God extends grace, that is how a person is saved. That extended grace is recognized by the gift of faith, which God graciously gives to His children.

But, you don't believe that. You think that humans need to manufacture their own faith and grab hold of a static box you imagine to be marked as "grace." If a person grabs the grace box and willfully chooses to believe, they will be saved.

You have a man-centered means of salvation. I have a God-centered means of salvation. We cannot agree. One of us is wrong and will stand before God and give account for teaching a lie about God and His grace. I am ready to stand before God and give an account. I have no idea if you are ready for the same.

. . . that salvation is mental assent to Christ as God and Messiah, often confirmed by repeating "the sinner's prayer."
The notion one must say a sinner's prayer in order to be saved, I regard as a perversion.
Easy Believism one receives salvation wholly as an unmerited gift. The false gift gospel's one must do something in order to receive salvation, baptism, prayer, confession of Jesus as Lord, giving one's self to Christ etc.

Amen, sir and well-said.
Without ( or "outside of" ) faith it is impossible to please God ( Hebrews 11:6 ).
We are saved by Grace because of our faith.
Would you please show me where it says in His word that we are saved from Hell because of our faith, as believers?
All I can find is this:

" For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
9 not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
( Ephesians 2:8-10 ).

Since it is through faith ( and not by it or because of it ), then truly it is not of works, so we can potentially boast in them.
Please notice that this passage also states that believers are His workmanship and that they were created in Christ Jesus.

If we were saved because of our faith, then would it not say that we created ourselves in Christ Jesus...?
Yet it does not.

It clearly says that believers are God's workmanship.

You Calvinist just do not understand what the Bible says you are both wrong. I don't care whether you believe me or not but you should at least believe scripture.

What's a "Calvinist", MB?

Someone who believes what the Bible teaches about how and why people are saved...
That it is not of works ( man's efforts ), but of grace alone ( God's efforts )?

If so, then I suppose that is what I am;
Even though I've never much studied John Calvin or his works, nor those who follow him.
I don't care whether you believe me or not but you should at least believe scripture.
I do believe the words of God, MB.

But...
I just gave you Scripture.
Why do you not believe the words?

Here it is again, sir:

" For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
9 not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
( Ephesians 2:8-10 ).

Remember that faith you said you were saved because of?
The truth is, that it came from the Lord ( Galatians 2:16-20 ).
What more reason to glorify Him?:)

He is everything and is the provider of every good and perfect gift ( James 1:17 );
We are nothing and are desperate beggars for whatever good that He wills to give us, my friend.

May God bless you as you read His words, and may you believe them as they are written.

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Easy believism says "If you say the Sinners Prayer, you're magically saved." It is the same problem Israel had with the ark of the covenant. Just send the ark before the army and the magic luck charm we worship will save us. Funny how God let the Philistines win the battle and have the ark captured.

Anytime we worship something other than God, we worship an idol.

I too believe believing is easy.

Salvation is simple
One does not need a full knowledge of theology to understand salvation through the blood of Jesus

...but believing produces a change of status in the one who believes
and without results there is always a question about the reality of the persons salvation.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,
1 Peter 1:14 NASB95

Romans 10:13 "for whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

No "whoever if elect", etc.-Just WHOEVER, leaving out no one !

In that version the power of salvation is all in the hands (or voice) of man and their ability to perform the proper incantation.

Scripture doesn't have incantations thats a Calvinist interpretation of scripture.

There is no such thing as "Grace alone" in scripture. It's just one of the many false notions of Calvinist. Frankly I feel sorry for you. You keep ignoring the truth.

A confession with the mouth the Lord Jesus is
a work
of believing in one's heart that God raised Him from the dead. Works are not the requiement, the faith is.

You just jumped the shark.
Prayer is for our sake, not God's sake. God knows our heart. God prays for us. God redeems us and causes us to confess with our mouth and believe. It's all God.
Do you think it's all about you, MB?

Even the demons believe and tremble. Liars can speak words of confession with their mouths, but they will never believe they are subjects under the King's authority. They will forever be in rebellion.
