Edification

Sure I would be glad to take computer advice from a non Calvinist. But that is the extent of it. I usually will not listen to them in areas like evangelism because we do not agree. But it's not like they can't ever give good advice. They may be excellent at Greek and with textual criticism and can give good advice.

And there you have it. "I will only accept advice from people whose advice I agree with."

Evan said on 8/30/2015 :
"I take advice all the time it just depends on the source and how it is given."

You and John MacArthur also disagree in areas of evangelism. Just wondering if he has made your "ignore" list yet (you haven't mentioned him in a while but I have grown to appreciate his sermons a bit more).

I love macs book on evangelism! Yes he does not use the law but he is very biblical.

Not only that, he presents the use of the Mosaic Law as problematic. I'm not a huge fan of his books, but I do like his sermons. I keep his podcasts on my phone and listen throughout the day.

I presume that you are willing to provide a quoted reference to a post in which Don asks for advice then rejects it with insulting comments.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. In fact I will go so far as to say that we probably won't get any more post form Evan on this thread. He'll just start a few new/repeat topics and the cycle will start all over again.

Sure I would be glad to take computer advice from a non Calvinist. But that is the extent of it.
In other words, "I'll read over it, but it doesn't matter to me. Non-Calvinists do not offer me anything I desire." I take it if b Iconoclast and I were to offer you the same advice, you would more-readily credit Icon than me, simply because he is Calvinist and I am not.

In other words, "Non-Calvinists are beneath me, but I'll allow myself to read their feeble attempts at advice. They are not as smart or well-studied as their Calvinist counterparts, therefore they are less worthy of being given audience and they not really worth my time.

The ironic thing is that even on Calvinist boards he dismisses the advice he gets that he disagrees with and has been banned from at least one Calvinist board.

Did he do something to be banned or was his banishment predestined?

Don- Based on past experience, it would be a good guess that the best that you can hope for is a picture of a Rabbit or a Jackass.

...But then you probably already expect as much.

What I hope for and what I expect are two different things. I hope he'll prove us all wrong. The question is, if he doesn't, does he realize how that will appear to everyone who sees this?

In another thread : http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=101277

Edification was discussed and this particular poster's unwillingness to accept constructive criticism.

Just curious, but are any of us here brave enough to say "Tell me what you really think of me, what things do I need to work on to be a better Christian based upon our interactions here on BB. I'm willing to listen to brothers and sisters in Christ who can build me up and help me be more useful for the kingdom."

Were you trying to "edify" yourself esteem?

That didn't make any sense....

I was about to make the same comment earlier this morning but thought that it was just me.

I suspect that it has something to do with a two-month old comment by TH in another thread.

I was also wondering as it didn't make sense to me either. I am not familiar with the thread of which you speak, but am a bit relieved that I'm not alone in my bewilderment. I was starting to realize I'm loosing what cognitive ability I have left....but contrary to my wife's insistence, your reply stifled that notion.....for now. :wavey:
