Sen. Warren released her ancestry report and it stated that "the great majority of (Warren's) identifiable ancestry is European." However, the report adds, "The analysis also identified 5 genetic segments as Native American in origin at high confidence."

This afternoon the Cherokee Nation released a statement that said in part that DNA tests are useless in determining tribal citizenship and people using DNA to connect themselves to Cherokee Nation is inappropriate.

Former Obama campaign strategist Jim Messina questioned the timing of Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren releasing a DNA test Monday.

Warren released the results Monday after being mocked and attacked by Republicans for claiming Native American heritage with no verification for decades. Warren’s results showed that she may have between 1/64th and 1/1,024th Indian DNA, though the test that did not use Native American DNA.

Messina, who served as President Barack Obama’s White House deputy chief of staff for operations and 2012 campaign manager, was not happy about the media storm that Warren created by releasing the results into the contentious 2018 election cycle. “Argue the substance all you want, but why 22 days before a crucial election where we MUST win house and senate to save America, why did @SenWarren have to do her announcement now?” he asked. “Why can’t Dems ever stay focused???”

Sorry, I have a sliver of Native American myself.
No need for sorry. We used to be able to laugh at ourselves, but I guess that was a different time.

I have seen a picture of my great, great, grandmother (taken in the late 1800's). She was full Choctaw. My great, great grandfather was full Irish.

My great great grandmother was Jewish. For real - not sure which tribe - Judah?

What privilege besides boasting, no recognized tribe would put her on their membership rolls with that much of a percentage. No tribal membership, no statutory privilege.
All of the "white privelege," and getting to claim Native American status without ever having experienced anti-Indian discrimination.
