Emotionalism or the Bible on the Subj of Prophets -- pick ONE

BobRyan

Well-Known Member
First we had the utter nonsense

These two sects believe outside the 24 inspired and infallible prophets in the 66 books of the bible, some mortals exhibit the same traits.

For SDAs, it is just one woman, their godess...<obligatory nonsense and emotionalism deleted here>

Then we have -

We believe the Bible and the Bible teaching on NOT rejecting the prophets that God sends EVEN if those prophets are as Nathan and Elijah that author not ONE book of scripture.

vooks then looks for some "emotionalism" to address it with - "as if" that sort of low-road response to the Bible is "most compelling" on Baptist Board. As my signature line points out - that may be true for some - but many actually "read" the Bible.

Can the Bible student really be content to embrace "emotionalism and nonsense" on such important Bible topics?

Bob

We believe Numbers 12:6 "is true"
Numbers 12
6 Then He said,
“Hear now My words:
If there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision;
I speak to him in a dream.

7 Not so with My servant Moses;
He is faithful in all My house.
8 I speak with him face to face,
Even plainly, and not in dark sayings;
And he sees the form of the Lord.
Why then were you not afraid
To speak against My servant Moses?”

And note it on a scroll,
That it may be for time to come,
Forever and ever:

And to the prophets, “You must not prophesy to us what is right,

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

I never coauthored Testimonies so this garbage is 120% White lies:tonofbricks:
Read here and keep your silly tantrums to yourself. You are too old for this. Read!
If you seek to turn aside the counsel of God to suit yourselves, if you lessen the confidence of God’s people in the testimonies He has sent them, you are rebelling against God as were Korah, Dathan, and Abriam.
Testimonies 5 p. 66.
Anything lessening confidence including causing doubt in Ellen White is rebelling against God

The UNSTABLE and UNLEARNED pretend to esteem Scriptures above all
Vooks - once again I will be going with the Bible on this one - so yet another topic where the Bible is going to be more important that the fluff you were offering us by contrast.

But this is their well;
There is hope for every remnant believer today who sometimes feels confused at all the differing views taken by different scholars and commentaries. We have that was given for the purpose of settling the disagreements among the uninspired commentaries. What do you do when the scholars disagree? Do you have to become a better scholar than the best in order to settle the disagreement in your own mind? No, let me repeat. God has given to our church an inspired commentary to settle the disagreements among the uninspired commentaries. And we can still be thankful for that today."

Maybe you need to consider picking up a Bible while discussing Bible doctrine.

Your "appeal to sola-emotionalism" wont work on this thread.

BobRyan,
I scraped some gem from your sewers
The Bible is an infallible guide but it needs to be infallibly interpreted, to avoid confusion and division. When will the people of God cease trusting in their own wisdom? When will they come to the place where they will cease to measure, construe, and interpret by their own reason what God says to them through His appointed channel? When we come to the place where we place no trust in man or in the wisdom of man, but unquestionably accept and act upon what God says through this gift, then will the spirit of prophecy as set before us in the Bible and confirmed among us and become in fact a counselor, guide and final court of appeal among God's people".

How advantaged the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to have a modern inspired interpreter of both the Old and New Testaments! Surely there is every logical reason to give the inspired interpretation top priority in arriving at our understanding of the world today.

There is a book, Appeal to Mothers by Ellen White that SDAs long stopped publishing. It was among her 'health' books, and it focussed on 'solitary vice' or masturbation. As usual, Ellen White prophecies and visions were in the words of BobRyan 'made up' as she went and they revolved around contemporary issues.

The relative limited knowledge of human physiology in the 18th and 19th century is mirrored in Ellen White 'health reforms'. Looks like her angel/god could not think beyond humans.

This article examines her anti-solitary-vice rhetoric. Allow me to quote just a small portion of her book to demonstrate White Lies

Children who practice self-indulgence [masturbation] previous to puberty, or the period of merging into manhood or womanhood, must pay the penalty of nature's violated laws at that critical period. Many sink into an early grave, while others have sufficient force of constitution to pass this ordeal. If the practice is continued from the age of fifteen and upward, nature will protest against the abuse she has suffered, and continues to suffer, and will make them pay the penalty for the transgression of her laws, especially from the ages of thirty to forty-five, by numerous pains in the system, and various diseases, such as affection of the liver and lungs, neuralgia, rheumatism, affection of the spine, diseased kidneys, and cancerous humors. Some of nature's fine machinery gives way, leaving a heavier task for the remaining to perform, which disorders nature's fine arrangement, and there is often a sudden breaking down of the constitution; and death is the result."1
"Some who make a high profession do not understand the sin of self-abuse and its sure results. Long-established habit has blinded their understanding. They do not realize the exceeding sinfulness of this degrading sin, which is enervating the system and destroying their brain nerve power."2

"I saw that the family of Brother G__ need a great work done for them. H__ and I__ have gone to great lengths in this crime of self-abuse; especially is this true of H__, who has gone so far in the practice of this sin that his intellect is affected, his eye-sight is weakened, and disease is fastening itself upon him."3

"He had practiced self-abuse until he was a mere wreck of humanity. This vice was shown me as an abomination in the sight of God. ... The results of self-abuse in them is seen in various diseases, such as catarrh, dropsy, headache, loss of memory and sight, great weakness in the back and loins, affections of the spine, the head often decays inwardly. Cancerous humor, which would lay dormant in the system their life-time, is inflamed, and commences its eating, destructive work. The mind is often utterly ruined, and insanity takes place."4

According to the above quotes, the following health problems are caused by masturbation:
1. Brain weakened
2. Cancerous tumors
3.Catarrh
4. Dropsy
5. Eye-sight weakened
6. Headache
7. Head decay
8. Insanity
9. Kidney disease
10. Liver disease
11. Lung disease
12. Memory loss
13. Nervous system damage
14. Neuralgia
15. Pains in the system
16. Premature death
17. Rheumatism
18. Spinal weakness/problems
