It matters very little. And in fact it is dangerous to believe that any version makes scripture so clear that no in depth study of culture, language, or context is necessary. Every Christian should always understand this is always necessary. All of this easy readability non sense is misleading and foolish.

I am no fan of Dynamic Translations. I see them as inferior and not worthy of placing the word "Bible" on them.

The easy to read label is misleading as it sets up Christians to believe that a cursory reading of any passage in that translation is all that is needed to fully understand it. The logic used that leads one to create such translations discredits it anyway.

 

Do you view versions suich as Niv 2011 NLT HCSB as being "dynamic?"

 

This makes little sense and completely ignores what dynamic equivalence actually seeks to accomplish.

 

What do you mean by "more closely follow literally the greek text"?

 

The NASB seems to follow closest the Greek text for just the way they structured the english translated off that text...

HCSB appears to be second closest to try to keep the greek structuring

NOV 2011 seems to be "liberally" in just how the english sentence follow the order/structure of the greek text..

NOT saying any of them are bad, just that think that due to their concept of "how" to translate off the texts, they adhere more/less lossely/strictly to preserving the Greek structure and order...

the "wooden/literal" renderings of the NASB as contrasted to more of an equivalent rendering for the NIV....

 

The NASU95 has done away with a lot of that.

Still have and use the 1977 NAS Ryrie Bible...

Think that IF one has been raised in either the KJV/NKJV, or else "used" to a more formal style, that either version of NASB actually esier to read and study with then the NIV....

As find thatat times while using the NIV just seems to "read different"
