Define Hyper-fundamentalism for me. Shouldn't the fundamentals be the backbone on the Christian faith?

Very well written. Europe as a whole is a very diverse continent both culturally and spiritually. It is declining spiritually in a very fast paste both in Western and Eastern Europe. There are major differences however between the east and the west. Currently I believe that Western Europe is one of the most ungodly and pagan places on this planet. Since East was shielded from this shift by the Iron Curtain for many years, the change is much slower but it does follow its neighbour. Western Europe is rich, east is very poor. The west leads the continent's politics, the east must follow.

Both ends of Europe is in a tremendous need for PRAYER first and MISSIONARIES. I firmly believe that a great spiritual battle is going on there. One can sense that just by visiting certain places.

Also, as a sidenote and as an example. I am from Romania where LESS THAN 2% of the whole population can be considered Evangelical. The churches are struggling but God is in control even there. I would like to urge any reader to pray for the Christians in this country and for the whole continent. May the Lord send many many more laborors into this rapidly changing area of the world.

    With brotherly love

    well said

    Europe needs prayer and missionaries
I lived in Belgium for 3 years and my heart breaks just thinking about the spiritual void there (that is being filled by all sort of ungodly things)

Europe is guiltly of one of the worst sin there is: indifference to God and his Word

they don't even fake it, they just don't care
many are unhappy with their lives but God is still not an option

but since God did not give up on me when I was rejecting Him, I have no reason to give up on fellow humans in Europe or anywhere else

The Cross was for them too and who am I to keep the Good News to myself or choose who is worthy to hear it

may we learn lessons from what has happened to Europe this once "Christian" continent

God help us and help them

I am a little curious what Spain and Italy are like as far as a missionaries job.

I admire any missionary whereever they go, and pray that Gods will be done.

Paul was a fine example of going into other countries other than his own....fighting many factors relating to paganism, and those of legalism. It seemed many of his problems that he experienced were more of those who knew the Lord, rather than of those who do not know the Lord. What is not of God is evil!

It does not matter whether you are from USA, or Scotland, or England,or Canada, or Africa...the word of God needs to be spread! What matters is Jesus Christ in your life?

I agree with Mark about the fundamentals! What are those fundamentals? Are they not leading a "man" to Christ? When we go with the will of God, His Spirit will teach us and lead us! Whether it be next door or the next Country over.

When we let the politics of a country stand in our way of spreading that Gospel, then I am not sure where our hearts are to begin with.

I welcome anyone into my home or country who is a Christian, and wishes to talk to me or my neighbors, about the Gospel! I am willing to walk beside that Brother or Sister, and share the Gospel...no matter the nationality...as I am a citizen of the Kingdom of God and not here on earth.

    What is the important issue?

I pray for all my brothers and Sisters in Christ whereever God leads them.

I lived in Spain for a while and the missionaries have to work very hard to win souls. Satan snatches seeds very quickly there. And there is much rocky ground. Please pray for the workers in Spain.

The above statement appears to refer to Europeans as a whole - please do not "paint us all with the same brush"
    I am a `European ` and object to this `blanket cover` generalisation.

From what I have heard from those serving on that field, the observation it particulary spot on in describing the conditions in France. It would seem by extension, Brussels and Liege have copied Paris and Nancy.

Though there are few places in this world that this observation is not true. Europe does not hold a monopoly on indifference and apathy to the Gospel and the things of God.

Just wanted to chime in here.

My heart breaks for the thought of the Christians (IFB Christians) in our church here in Čakovec, Croatia being without the saving knowledge of Christ all because a teacher thought God had forsaken Europe for the time being. My husband and I sit sometimes talking about why we are the only IFB missionaries in all of Croatia. But, after hearing Mark, that explains it. How long will we buy into the lies of the devil and let a wonderful people, living in bondage under the Catholic church die in their sins? It breaks my heart.
We have two churches here, a Croatian church and then a gypsy church, and the need is great but people don't see these people as important as others. I know that God is calling it's just so many Christians are refusing.
Two weeks ago an 82 year old man came to our church sit in congregation and said as I shook his hand for the first time, he said " I want to be an Independent Baptist". He had been kicked out of the Baptist Union (which isn't Baptist) for disagreeing with their doctrine of being able to loose your salvation, that was 10 years ago.

Sure it may not be the Phillipians where they're being saved by the thousands, but they're ready here all they need is good, sound Baptists to come and help them along the way.

Sorry for sounding too forceful. I live here I see it and many talk out of ignorance.

    Dear Gwyneth,

I am almost sure that Alain did not mean any of those charges you accuse him with! He was just trying to discribe a situation occuring in Europe in general! Don't take it personally please!

    Hello Mark,

I too disagree with your statement above about God not being at "work in Europe at the same level as He is in Latin America and parts of Asia and Africa." I went on my first international mission trip in 1998. We took a group of 25 Southern Baptists from Marietta, Georgia to Romania. At the end of our two weeks in Romania the Romanian Baptist Church that we partnered with held a baptism service for all those who had accepted Christ during our mission trip. I witnessed a huge crowd of people (over 300) baptized that Sunday afternoon. Europeans living in some former Soviet Block Nations are hungry for the gospel and responding in great numbers. Admittedly, there are some areas of Europe where the ground is not as fertile due to years of post-modern philosophy, Darwinism, and the effects of nominal Christianity. However, these people are also starving for the truth of the gospel. They are hungry. They just don't know that the Word of God is what will satisfy the empty feeling inside them. We need more missionaries, more missions giving, and prayer for Europe not less.

Likewise, in other areas of the world where great numbers are responding to the gospel we need to be starting church planting movements that are led by local indigenous pastors and rapidly reproducing more churches. Then our missionaries, after they see a successful church planting church birthed, need to move on and start over again. These church planting movements free up missionaries to "cover" more ground for the Lord because they leave the continued evangelization of people groups to the indigenous Christians. This method is working really well for Southern Baptist IMB missionaries inside the 10/40 window where the need for the gospel is so great. Once these church planting churches take off and begin to reap the harvest our missionaries are able to move on to other unreached people groups. As the indigenous churches take over the work of reaching their fellow countrymen our missionaries can shift their focus toward reaching other peoples and nations. This means that eventually we will have more resources to pour into reaching the lost in places like continental Europe and here in the U.S. as well.

[IMG] </font>[/QUOTE]If it is such a laughable statement then why is it that the Chruch of England recently placed a self proclaimed neo-pagan as the Archbishop of Canterbury?

Well, praise the Lord for at least 3 missionaries I know who came to holland to bring the gospel here to the dutchman.

    I think about Danny Alford

And I think about Jake Huussen

There is also a new missionary, but I forgot his name.

I do know about a missionary who has a burden for the people in Ukraine, you can see him here preaching in Amsterdam, his name is Tom Hall

And yes we do need some sound Baptist here in Europe.
