No, he firmly believes in it! He's promoting it as an alternative. But should there be an alternative in church??

In this case, yes. There is room for debate.

There are plenty of anecdotes out there of people who struggle with this issue when faced with it. Many of these are people who are taught all their lives that there is no room for any old earth theories. Since the data for an old earth is quite convincing, this causes some great trouble when they come across it. Some even lose their faith.

By showing that there are Christians who maintain a strong faith even while no longer denying the truth of old earth science these situations can be avoided. Not many people will change their mind, but it at least allows them to see that there need not be a false dilemma placed before them. Some good would also come from at least removing the most egregious statements from the YE party line.

Isn't the man mentioned in the question a member of that church? Isn't he in a particular position to share valuable information on the subject, being a geologist? Isn't the subject of age of earth and evolution something that is worthy of being discussed in our churches in a christian manner?

And given that the minority who accept evolution and ancient earth are in our churches, apparantly there to stay, what is the christian thing to do about that fact? Because it is evident that some of them are very sincere in their belief that they can reconcile their scientific knowledge with their faith in God.

I submit that it is a good thing to disarm the tactic of our enemy to siphon off people from the church who come to decide that science has it right.

They would be better served to FIRST study the "dependency" of the gospel on Christ the Creator's role in Creation and the flood events etc mentioned by the Gospel writers.

THEN they should view the gaffs blunders and flaws of evolutionism AS CONFESSED BY EVOLUTIONISTS themselves. (Usually by the more honest and candid atheist evolutionists when they are confronted with the clash between actual science and the myths of evolutionism -- as I have observed in the past).

ONLY THEN would I suggest a place could be found for the half-truths myths and attempts at misdirection that is the heart and soul of evolutionism for its devotees.

    OUTSTANDING brother!!

    I applaud the Westminster Presbytery!

God bless them one and all! They are people who clearly embrace SCIENCE, the GOSPEL AND Scripture in their true harmonious and purest sense when it comes to Christ the Creator's role as our Creator!

    What a praise for God

    In Christ,

    Bob

As I pointed out earlier - the truth-decay-chain can not get to open promotion of homosexual agendas without FIRST collapsing into evolutionism and that can not be done without first denying God's Word, Authority and Law.

Those that hold to Christ the Creator's role as HE states it in a literal Creation week - can not fall into either the error of evolutionism or the follow-on errors of the homosexual agenda.

Well, the idea that the Bible trumps Science lost its appeal after the dismal failure that occurred when the attempt was made to apply that idea to the teachings of Copernicus and Gallileo. But as we see above, there are some holdouts!

The idea that evolutionism trumps science has never really caught on with objective thinkers and from the quotes we see where even atheist evolutionists are exposing the gaffs, blunders flaws in the guesswork of evolutoinism - it is pretty clear that they only swallow it because as an atheist - it is their only "option" for a doctrine on origins.

Thank God that as Christians we don't have to do that - we can step into the light of truth, faith, and science without going to the dark void of junk-science evolutionism just to support the atheist's "need" for a counter doctrine on origins.

Which brings us to the question - why would "sopme" Presbyterians sects swallow something that even the atheist evolutionists choke on?

As I said before - it is obvious that it is the atheist's one and only hope for a doctrine on origins - but the Christian?

Kinda reminds me of that thread on the bible basis for rejecting God's Word in Genesis 1 - and how that argument does not work.

    Bob

I think we need to bear in mind that there are several Presbyterian Denominations, some very Liberal, others Fundamental.

Very true - but the ones that swallow the myths and lies of evolutionism must first reject the Law of God itself (revise/edit it) and must reject a sound basis for Bible exegesis. Then they are free to embrace the myth of evolutionism and ITS doctrine for origin instead of the Word of God - AND they are then positioned to embrace the homosexual agenda because all the boundaries and guide-posts are gone.

    In Christ,

    Bob
